i like this episode -- for the most part - (ie: i'm not a Riley fan, so his parts are annoying - and he's a big dork most of the time) -

1st - i'm not sure exactly where they were going with Riley's character to begin with - he just seems to 'be there' - not really doing anything, and whatever they do w/ him doesn't advance the storyline - esp now that the Initiative is gone --

2nd - Love Spike - in here - he's fun - tho, this does involve another failed attempt to remove the chip from his head (the 1st being the situation w/ Adam) - esp at the end w/ that "Buffy, Buffy, Buffy..." quote; then 'the dream' - and the reaction to it - too funny!

3rd - Harmony - usually she's terribly annoying, but in here - she's more like 'comic relief' - thinking she's Buffy's archnemesis, hiding from her and such -- amusing

okay - potentially spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the rest of season 5:

however, aside from inching toward getting rid of Riley and introducing the fact that Spike may be in love w/ Buffy, this episode didn't really advance the storyline much -- and, it's possible it wasn't supposed to, but there just wasn't much else there.

Spike's reaction to the dream was priceless. I rewound the tape just to watch it again.

Cheers,

hehe, it is priceless! Luckily jou can see it again in the "previously on.." bits in many future episodes...

I think the main points of the episode were to show Riley's separation from the initiative and his unwillingness to go back to them, and also Spike's desperation to get rid of the chip and therefore (in his eyes) get rid of his feelings for Buffy...

which begs the question ----

if Spike gets rid of the chip (which i don't see happening anytime soon) would he return to 'Big Bad' status, or still help Buffy?

(yeah - this is such a loaded question - but it's fun!)

Well ...

after seeing Crush, I kind of have to think that even without the chip Spike would still help Buffy out

Cheers,

re: your comment about "Crush" -- he might ---

"Out of My Mind" --

the 20 Questions bit w/ Harmony and Spike -- that was just too funny!

Spike: Is it bigger than a breadbox?
Harmony: No. 4 left.
Spike: Is it smaller than a breadbox?
Harmony: <bouncing> No. Only 3.
Spike: <annoyed> Harmony, is it a sodding breadbox?

hehehehehe ---- love that scene!
