If I were you, I wouldn't be looking forward to GT

Many of you probably hear GT and think "Yes! A new Dragonball series! That means more action! Yes!". Sorry to burst your collective bubble, but DBGT isn't anything to speak of, really.

Characters
Yes, we get Pan and Bra, as well as adult Goten and Trunks, and every now and then the "classic cast" has the spotlight. Sounds good right? Wrong.

-Pan's character is never developed at all.
-Out of 60 some odd eppisodes, Piccolo only apears 3 times.
-Goten and Trunks, as with Pan, were ignored and never got any stronger than they were as children against Buu.
-Gotenks is never seen once.
-Gohan is "de-powered" to a much weaker level than he should be at.
-Vegeta is still completly obsessed with beating Goku, even though he had completly gotten over that during the Buu saga.

Battles
GT focuses on one thing and one thing alone: Goku. Each and every battle in GT goes like this:

-Goku meets enemy
-enemy beats the crap out of Goku
-Goku comments on how strong the enemy is
-Goku beats enemy with absolutly no trouble whatsoever, in mere seconds

...no characters other than Goku ever get the spotlight in any way. Even Vegeta is left completly in the dust.

Power Gains
Goku is the only character throughout the entire series who gains any power at any time. He does all the fighting, gets all of the increases, discovers all new levels. Even Vegeta is left totally in the dust for the majority of the series. Vegeta eventually does achieve "SSJ4" after Goku does, but Vegeta can only do it once(since he no longer has a tail). Other than that, Vegeta never gets any higher than SSJ2.

Basically, GT is just one big Goku love fest. It is not like DB, where every character was equal. It is not like DBZ, where Saya-jins dominate, but all the other characters play important roles as well. No, GT is 100% Goku, and that makes for one crappy series that is driven by one character alone.

...also, I would like to point out the fact that GT is not an "official" series. Toryama wanted to stop the series with the Freezer saga. However, Toei animation didn't want to give up a cash cow like Dragonball, so they convinced Toryama to continue with it. So he made the Cell saga, and had it wrap up at a nice ending point for the series. But were Toei satisfied? Nope. Yet again the greedy animation company makes Toryama continue it. So he creates the Buu saga. This is where Toryama drew the line(no pun intended. After the Buu saga ended, Toryama absolutly refused to do any more Dragonball. He ended the series right there.

...but guess what...Toei wasn't reafy to drop DB yet. So what did they do? They decided to write and create their own series, "Dragonball GT". This series prooved to be a massive flop with incredibly low ratings, only ending up having between 60-70 episodes(forget the exact number).

Basically what I'm saying is this: GT was just plane bad. A Dragonball series that is not driven by Toryama's writing has no hope of success. Toei learned that the hard way. The only good thing about GT is the animation quality, and that's only because it was so much newer.

More on the way characters were handled...GT completly ignores all character developement that has occured throughout DB and Z. Let's see...

The Buu saga ended with the earth being restored, but only the good people were brought back to life. No evil people were restored. Now, somehow emperor Pilaf was still there. He had gathered the DBs again to controll the world, when he made the wish that kicked off GT. By all rights and purposes, Pilaf should not have been alive.

Just as Pilaf was about to make his wish, Goku apeared. Pilaf shouted "Damn you Goku! If only you were a kid I would beat you!". This wish in general made no sense at all, since Pilaf was no match whatsoever for chibi Goku in DB. The dragon took that to be Pilaf's wish, and turned Goku into a kid. So here we are, Goku is back to being the same age he was in DB, only he could still reach all three SSJ levels(though the power of each was cut waaaaay down). This I could have lived with, if not for the way they butchered Goku's character from this point on. GT's "version" of chibi Goku is a whiney, overly annoying brat. Anyone who's ever seen/read DB knows that Goku was polite and nieve as a chile, not anything like this.
