Two Books: Head to Head

Ok, here we go again. We happen to have two equally popular choices for May's book so I am putting them up against each other. Make your choice!

Re: Two Books: Head to Head

Would it make any difference to anybody if I said that I already have "The Wood Wife" out of the library?

Nah. Didn't figure it would. But it was a good try, wasn't it?

*and in the peanut gallery, someone whispers, just loud enough so everyone can hear..."My, doesn't she get silly when she's up too late?"*

Re: Two Books: Head to Head

I'm going to put a vote in for Gaiman - I just got a cheque in so I can survive the next month, and perhaps should chill out with a read after the stress of the past couple of weeks. I'd like to read the Gaiman novel, and put it into perspective with regards to his comic writing. I like his story ideas, but I'm not actually confident of his prose-writing abilities, so it'll be interesting to read.

Hm...just thought - when I bring the advertising in I should start a "library fund", perhaps, to help buy books for people in the book club...

A nice idea but it may be difficult to manage.

Re: Two Books: Head to Head

I need to get some other things sorted out first before I really look seriously at the idea. But an idea it is.

Re: Two Books: Head to Head

Brian I think you'll really like American Gods, especially since you like history because it's got a lot of mythology in it. It has a little darker attitude to it but is really amazingly written and really funny at times. Even though I am in the middle of the Steven Erikson series and I only read this book about 8 months ago, I would read it again if it were picked.

Re: Two Books: Head to Head

"After the chosen book is posted (4/26 or 4/27) then we all can scramble to find a copy and read it by 5/10. That should give all interested parties ample time to acquire and read their copy. We'll begin the discussion on 5/10 or thereabouts."

Voting is Done Then?

Yup, it looks like everyone who is going to vote, has, so I'll close the poll and announce that May's book is American Gods by Neil Gaimon.

Find a copy and read - we'll start discussions somewhere around the 10th of May.

Enjoy!
