Perphaps not unsuprisingly I too can recommend Erikson's Malazan series for an interesting spin on magic and McKillip's Riddlemaster trilogy was a revelation for me.
Like other members here I enjoyed Donadslon's Covenant series but it can be a little heavy going and not everyone's cup of tea.
Can also recommend:
Kingdom Of Thorn and Bone - Greg Keyes
Sword Of shadows - JV Jones
Crown Of Stars - Kate Elliott
Several others but you could do worse than start with these. |
