Re: Favourite moments in the films?

Oh, I'm going to have to go home and watch the films all over again after reading all this.

My favourite moments? (I'm going to have to edit this later...)

Bilbo's birthday party when Merry and Pippin set off the Dragon firework (FoTR)
The moment when everyone at Sauron's gates realises that Frodo has accomplished his task and Merry and Pippen rush forward first (RoTK)

Pippins song for Denethor (TT/RoTK ~ what a flousey I am ~ I can't remember which film it was.)

And I agree with Vodstok ~ that was an absolutley wonderful moment for Eowyn in RoTK when she killed the Wraith. I was swinging the blade along with her. I always thought it a shame that more wasn't made of Eowyns story in the film given how much women are under-represented in Tolkein. sniff.

Re: Favourite moments in the films?

any battle by a hobbit...

the dwarf tossing ( especially the remarks before, during and after)

the drinking contest

and Helms deep.
And the Rohirrim.

I like most of the films, but I hated most of the singing, and , In my opinion, the end is too much of a Tearjerker ( sniff, sniff, )

FellowShip of the Ring - Gandalf's battle with the Balrog. Way cool!

Two Towers - any scene with TreeBeard and I loved the Warg attack. I also loved the Battle at Helm's Deep.

Return of the King - the scene where Gandalf the White confronts Sarumon for the last time and Sarumon gets impailed - gross! I also love the scene with the Mouth of Sauron (makes me quesy and laugh at the same time - kinda hard to explain )

I agree on those. Bruce Spence did an awesome job with the Mouth of Sauron. Remember him? He was the pilot of the flying jalopy in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Reading that scene in the book though, poed me off, when he taunts Gandalf with the mithril shirt, because I didn't know what happened to Frodo yet.

I only knew it when I saw the appendices that come with the extended versions in the fancy DVD box. I recognized when they interviewed him, but wouldn't have ever guessed it when just watching the movie.

...ummm... I'm going to say Merry and Pippen in general. And all the fight scenes, and the bit where Gandalf is telling Pippen about the West.

When I read this thread, this was the second scene that came to mind. The first was when Gandalf freed Theoden from Saruman's possession. "Breathe the free air again." (Gandalf to Theoden)

And one of my favorite quotes is this:
Treebeard: I always liked going South, somehow it feels like going downhill.
Love it!

And another is:
"Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall." (Aragorn)

Re: Favourite moments in the films?

I dont think i could list all my little favourite moments, but there are two that stick in my mind....especially since we own all 3 box packs! (deleted scenes people, deleted scenes)

The first has been mentioned a couple of times- Gollum arguing with himself in TTT; As freaky as it is absolutely hilarious

The Second is also from number two- That scene where the wargs attack and legolas swings up onto the horse as it rides by; that was so awesome. I remember being in the cinema(which was full of over pumped LOTR fans ) and when the shot went down to slow motion and legolas did his thing, all you could hear was this hushed ''whoa!''. You knew everybody was lovin it, and it was great
