(be honest) Something about Glory was the sense that black people in America wanted to fight for the Union North because they were the only people who stood for Truth, Justice, and the American Way - that "Freedom" only ever wore a dark blue jacket. That to myself seemed very much like backwards writing - the way most cultures do after they win anything, then justify it retrospectively, as unionised America seemed to do here. That's what I meant about American sentiment. Amistrad was good, but again - how does someone from an entirely alien culture learn the word "Freedom" first? American sentiment again. Amistrad is still an under-rated film, though. |
