| Where do Immortals come from? This is the ultimate Highlander question, right after "Who will be the last one?" so ---- there's always the mention that immortals are always foundlings, none of them have parents in the sense that most people think, tho some believe that they do. My question -- since immortals are generally listed as 'foundlings' or 'orphans' are any left as infants just randomly in the street? (and this could be why some turn out to be such bad boys!) or are all left w/ people, or on doorsteps, or at orphanages?? and of course, there would be all the influences of the ppl caring for the infant that would determine his/her 'lot' in life -- b/c immie kids can be just as obnoxious as 'human'/mortal kids -- see ep "Rite of Passage' ---- ideas? thoughts? or - do we not want to know where immies come from?? my basis for this was - Methos - tho he says he doesn't remember, how do you think he was 'raised'?? |

| hmmm....I think that they are left in proximity to people...but not neccesarily on doorsteps and such....my question is do they just appear there or what...I mean if they don't have mothers in the classic sense then....and is it possible that some immortal babies never get found? |

i was wondering that too -- who leaves them and are there some who aren't found - which would mean they would starve to death - but, isn't that rather violent? so wouldn't they then be immortal infants?? or -- is this 'mythic' being that 'leaves' the infants sure to put them someplace where they will be found -- like a 'mythical' adoption agency - the 'parents' are investigated to make sure they're good people??? weird questions, eh??

| okay I dunno about this foundlings business, obviously comes from a film or eppy I aint seen. THere was no indication in the 1st film that COnnor was not a true-blood MacLeod. or Duncan as far as I know. Scottish clans wouldnt have taken in a baby in this manner I dont think. As for where theyt come from ,the 2 "official" lines depending on which version of HII you watch are either from another planet, or from earths past. Both suck IMHO. We dont need to know. They have just always existed among us, freaks of nature if u like! |

| There was at least one whole eppie where Duncan found out he had been a foundling. Richie was a foster kid... I think they might have referred to Connor as a foundling somewhere or alluded to it...ask H2. It seems like Amanda grew up on her own too... As Methos has said, he doesn't remember so nobody knows. Cassandra had been a foundling too... Don't remember about anyone else off the top of my head. ~ana |

yes - Richie was a foster kid - ref - same ep - Connor - well - i'm not sure what they said about him - i don't recall a mention of him being a foundling in either the movie or the series -- i suppose we're meant to assume he was Amanda, i think, lived on the street - she was killed during the plague and revived and was later found by Rebecca (one of the best characters in the show!) Michelle Webster from "Rite of Passage" was adopted (and a rebel, but anyway) i recall somewhere some of the immies when talking to others mentioning that they don't recall life w/ their parents and such -- and i think in one of the eps either Duncan or one of the Watchers states that all immies are foundlings -- (when i get to that ep i'll try to remember to post something here)

| Kenny from the Lamb was also adopted. Since you only become an immortal from a violent death, a lot of the babies adopted or found could have live normal lives not knowing what they could have become and died at a ripe old age. There was one show in season one where Duncan had a flashback to an old man on a theater stage killing a young girl (an actress, he was a serial killer) the man was an immortal he became an immortal at an old age between 65 and 70. |

| That was Marcus Corrolas -- played by John Hertzler -- episode - i don't remember - but it's in the season 1 review thread - i know i've done that one - he was the scalper --- there have been other older immies too --- however, we still haven't answered "Where do immortals come from?" we know they are foundlings - but how do they become so? babies don't just pop out of the ground - someone/something had to put them there ---- so ---- speculations on this???? |

| You are discussing about where they come from originally and in that case, they may not be the offspring of their parents, I don't know much about that. But I thought that the idea of them being 'foundlings' or 'orphans' was due to the fact that they live forever without aging. Don't they have to keep changing their identity, as their friends and loved ones age and die, so as not to arouse suspicions. I haven't watched many series episodes, but that was clear in the films. MacLeod pretended to die and left a will to a fictional character with no other relatives, who he then took on the persona of. It was discovered that he had repeated this several times. |

well - in the series -- Duncan MacLeod was apparently the only immortal known to history to have never changed his name -- everyone else did --- Methos, Amanda -- 'cept maybe Fitz - but he was just weird - and we don't know so much about him -- but Duncan NEVER changed his name --- it was the weirdest thing - i'm still trying to figure it out -- and, yes, we still wanna know where immies come from --- originally ----- they're all foundlings -- but it's not just b/c they live forever --- there's gotta be something behind that ---- need some really good speculation ......

| Sorry, he couldn't have changed his name or he wouldn't still be called MacLeod. I just remember a scene from one of the films... but it's been awhile. Maybe they are left on Earth by aliens from another dying world. (like Clarke Kent!) |

well - he could have changed his name - during 400 years - don't ya think someone would have noticed that this Duncan MacLeod guy who never got married sure had a lot of ancestors w/ the same name? -- he could have done it, b/c even though Connor was "Russell Nash" at the time that Brenda Wyatt met him --- when he went down to the garage at Madison Square Garden, he intro'd himself as 'Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod' - his 'original' name -- so - Duncan could have done the same - but he's like the only immie w/o a known alias --- none --- seems odd, dontcha think? aliens? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that's what they tried to say in HLII --- nooooooooooooooooo no aliens!!! ![]()
