Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I cried a little i NEVER cry at movies but ROTK was special and sad. And now i'm getting sad again because it's coming up to the 1 year anniversary (nerdy much?) I am already planning a MAJOR LOTR marathon party that day where me and a bunch of friends all come over to my house and watch all of the extended versions I can't wait .

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I didn't cry at the "normal" version, though it was very emotional and it gave goosbumps and shivers.

Return of the King EE...well that is a different story. I'm a Eomer fan...and you know that little scene on Pellenor Fields? Yeah no wanting spoilies here, but well, that was a tear-jearker moment. Couldn't keep it dry there...

No crying, but I did get chills during some of the bigger moments.

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

omg! i cried about 5 times in ROTK! i think because i'd been waiting for it for so long and because it was the last. but i cried at really random bits as well as the normal bits like, when everyone bows to the hobbits, or when arwen comes from behind the flag etc.
Yeh i cried...A LOT! and i like Ed Harris, but they've put the Abyss on UK TV a bit too much for me. i cant stand it now!

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I cried a little bit at the end of each of the movies, but, like some of you the scene in the trilogy that reeeaally got me was when everyone bowed to the hobbits in the return of the king... im still not sure why it got me, but it did.

Cried and cried and cried ... for the books and the movies. Cried when Gandalf fell. Cried right through the battle at Helm's Deep.

But the scene which hits the most is when they light the beacons of Gondor. Start crying then and pretty much cry until the end. And it happens every single time I see the movie too.

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I cried a lot. In fact, my husband took me to see ROTK at the theaters, which was pretty cool for a few reasons, the main one being that he HATES fantasy/horror/sci fi....he is a dramatic comedy/stupid comedy kinda guy. Go figure. It was so funny because at what he thought was the end, he started to stand up. I was balling, of course, and he was the only one in the theater standing up. Then he sat down, looked at me, and I LOLled. It was comical. Then of course, he teased me (in a cute, silly husband way--not a mean way) for crying.

Tarka the otter gets me every time, that and Ring of Bright Water. Bambi did too but my excuse is it was a long time ago

Must admit I can't see me ever crying at LOTR however.

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I cried at one point during all three of the LOTR movies but especially the last movie.

There are some movies that no matter how many times that I see them, they make me cry. When I was little one of my favorite movies was a cartoon called Snoopy Come Home. I sobbed during this movie so much that my mother would call the video store before we would go and have them hide the movie. At 22 I am still not suppose to watch the movie because I become so upset. I tried to watch it a few months ago and I got 5 minutes in and was crying so hard that I turned it off.

Re: Did you cry? (be honest)

I think that all three of the LOTR movies made me cry at different points in my life. The first time I saw The Fellowship, Boromir dying didn't make me cry. It did make me sad, but not enough to cry (I can usually keep a pretty strong hold on my emotions). One day, however, I was feeling really emotional, and decided to watch it again. I cried when Boromir died, and when Sam runs into the river to go with Frodo. "I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. A promise. Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee. And I don't mean to...I don't mean to."
I also cried at The Two Towers when Haldir dies. The music at that part just gets to me. Also Sam's speech, in conjunction with all of the other things going on at that part. I know it's corny when Gandalf shows up with Eomer and rides down that impossibly steep hill, but it's still a cool part.
The Return of the King got me when Frodo told Sam to go home, and when Frodo says "Sorry Sam" when Sam isn't there. When the Eagles come, I always get chills, and will cry when I'm feeling emotional. Then, when Frodo (and Gollum) destroy the Ring...all of their reactions are just so beautiful. From there, pretty much the whole ending gets me. After my Grandmother died, I watched the harbor scene a lot to help me cope with letting go. Needless to say, I bawled. "Into the West" has really helped me get through some hard times. Sometimes you just need to cry, you know? I hold it in for so long, then things like that just break the dam.

I like it when movies can make me cry for the right reasons. Like "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Legends of the Fall", and "Meet Joe Black", to name a few.

"Bambi", on the other hand, was of the devil.
