How can you top that kind of scenario for excitement? You must instead look to other avenues - hence the "replicators" and "Goa'ulds loose on Earth" stories. | |

Yes indeed........ it has always been my opinion that the Stargate producers etc have actually handled the storylines and storyarcs very carelessly. Everyone waxes enthusiastically about how much RDA (for example) cares about what the fans think, I think he even said so in an interview. However, I think that like most American TV show people, they only hear what they want to hear and the fans they listen to have made it quite clear that the character development, earth based storylines etc are what they actually want. This is because most of these fans have a yen for either the principal actors or the characters they play. Which then turns the Stargate concept into a vehicle for four characters only. The fans love the characters and therefore love almost anything as long as they are featured prominently in it. Whether the episode sucks or not. In any case.... I respectfully disagree with you on one point. Yes, you are right in that they have done the 'major attack on earth by the Goa'uld' bit before (and too early)..... however, This attack on earth only came from one quarter.... that of our friend Apophis, who with a bit of luck, has finally and completely bitten the dust. Theoretically, there would be quite a few equally powerful Goa'uld who really could launch of full scale attack on earth and probably win. I'm sorry Dave...... in many ways I agree with you, but this still does not make up for the fact that Stargate has now become a crashing bore. I just can't find myself getting enthusiastic about Colonel Simmons, his pet and captive Goa'uld Adrian, Myabourne and Jack's verbal sparring, Sam and any more views of her house and fan's quilts on the wall or, god help me, Daniel ascending to a higher plane. If I want to look at boring and normal.... all I have to do is look in the mirror and at my own life, I don't need to waste the electricity it takes to run the TV or the time it takes to watch something which I now use as moving wallpaper while I work at the computer or read a good book. ![]()

5.11 Desperate Measures Now this one I also liked. I have to say I think that season five is getting better.... I thought that Sam kicked ass in the begining..good on her The story line was good and seeing Maybourne back is always a good thing, he is the kinda guy you love to hate plus when him and Jack are together its always fun. Jack giving his National Geographics to that homeless guy was sweet..I didn't think he would have brought them back. So I wonder whats gunna happen with the gou'ald that the NID now have....and when that story line will come out Plus I didn't really think that the Gou'ald would have gone with Colonel Simmons??? Didn't see much of Teal'c..I think he had about three lines all the way through. Daniel gave some good lines...liked the one in the hospital...very funny ![]()

Hmm, I can see why MS thought that the lot was too earthbound... But I think that it could only have been a matter of time before Goa'ulds started to trickle onto Earth...

I enjoyed this one as well - love it when Harry Maybourne turned up. I agree he is the man you love to hate ! Thinking about it, I can see why the Goauld went with Simmonds. He was kind of surrounded and probably not too strong, what with having to fix the crappy body he had just got into and all. And friends, how many of us did not see the old 'its ok I'm in control of this goauld so untie me' (then'll I'll kick your ass) thing coming !! duh, that was a bit bleeding obvious ! Its going to be interesting to see how this story arc unfolds Still, tomorrow night - the 100th episode - Wormhole Extreme. I hope it lives up to its hype :rolly2:

It's weird, but i was actually liking Maybourne in this episode! I guess its because i've got a new bad guy to hate now. Grrr, nasty Simmons, making Maybourne get the blame for shooting Jack! I was hoping for a bit more shippiness in this ep - where was the hug when Jack found Sam? Where were the tears when Sam thought Jack was dead? ![]()
