Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Release Date: Sometime 2002 (possibly September)

Facts About Book Five -- things that J.K. Rowling has said.

In book five, we go into a whole new area, physically, an area you've never seen before, a magical world
Book five will be scary. Harry finds out a lot of things he hasn't stumbled across so far.
In book five (Harry) has to examine exactly what death means, in even closer ways.
The Dursleys are in the next book, and there's stuff coming with them that people might not expect.
The "Arabella Figg" Dumbledore refers to at the end of book four is indeed the same Mrs. Figg that takes care of Harry for the Dursleys in book one.
You'll be seeing Mrs. (Arabella) Figg in book five, and you'll find out all about her.
Harry will see the real 'Mad-Eye' Moody in book five.
We will find out why Voldemort killed Lily and James Potter.
Something HUGE will be revealed about Lily Potter.
There will be a female Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher.
You see Lupin in Book Five. Yes, you will see a lot of old characters in Book Five.
Ginny Weasley will play more of a role in book five.
One of the main characters, one of Harry's "fans" will die.

Rumours About Book Five

Harry could be the heir of Godric Gryffindor. Here's why this is possible:

When Harry finally finds the right wand for him at Ollivander's, the wand emits red and gold sparks - Gryffindor colors!

We know that Harry's parents lived at Godric's Hollow. Godric who? Godric Gryffindor of course!
Near the end of book 2, when Harry pulls the sword out of the sorting hat, it had the words "Godric Gryffindor" engraved on the handle. Later on, Dumbledore says to Harry, "Only a true Gryffindor could have done that."

Harry's birthday is July 31st, which falls under astrological sign of Leo the Lion. The Lion is the Gryffindor house mascot.

The New Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher

Arabella Figg might be the new DADA (Defense Against the Dark Arts) teacher. J.K. Rowling said that we would "learn all about her in book five" and that she would "play more of a role in book five". JKR also said that there would be a female DADA teacher.

The New Gryffindor Quidditch Captain

Harry will be the new Gryffindor Quidditch Team captain. Wood is no longer there and Harry is the only, true, leader among the rest of the team. He will be in his 5th year, the same age Wood was when he was captain.

I changed to thread title to reflect how the other books have been described.

Who can tell what is going to happen in book 5, but it will most certainly be interesting to find out & that it's still following Harry, Ron etc. through their education at Hogwarts, so the question is this: What is going to happen to the 'Harry Potter' books once they all leave Hogwarts?

Harry could become a great Auror and battle the minions of the Dark Lord, should he not have been defeated by then. Eventually, I would see Harry as taking Dumbledore's place as Headteacher. Hermione would be a teacher, and a great housemistress. Ron? don't know about him.

Cool

Book 5 sounds really good. While in WHSmith on one saturday afternoon heard it could be released in May/JUne of this year. I do hope so. I would say I can't wait but know theres no point getting my hopes up and for them to be dashed again.

It'll get here when its ready.

Great info by the way Dave. Where do you find all this info?

It's from a Harry Potter website, can't remember the URL, but it's the biggest one. It has lots of infomation, but thought I would share that with you. It has more speculation about Book 5, but there is no evidence to suggest any of it is true. I posted all the things that JKR has actually revealed.

Heh, I enjoy seeing the Dursleys suffer! I am imagining that Voldemort is going to try attacking Harry while he's at "home" with the Dursleys. However, I expect the attack to fail, Harry to realize that he *must* stay with the hateful Dursleys during the summer (and that he can't go visiting his friends) and the Dursleys will make the MOST of that realization.

I think it's shameful the way they treat that boy, but then again, they're written that way! lol :thinks of Roger Rabbit's wife, "I'm not really bad, I'm just drawn that way":

I do have to say that I like the way school is treating Dudley...shaping that little piggy up.

K, I emailed Scholastic, Inc, about the next book...and let me tell you, it's FAR easier to deal with Tor Books about the Robert Jordan books I read than to find anything remotely resembling a publishing schedule at Scholastic. Their site is NOT designed for any kind of book fan.

Anyway, the gist of the email is that the publishing schedule is completely dependent on the author and that *she* hasn't said anything about when she'll be done. [sigh]

So, the date in May...that's for the DVD. There's still no clue date about when the next book (title is confirmed by JK Rowling as Order of the Phoenix, but it's still tentative) is going to be published. ARGH
