Fail Safe Hello all, does anyone else besides me think that Fail Safe is going to kick large amounts of buttocks? I know the plot has been done a million times before in movies and (bad) TV mini-series', but I just think it'll be great seeing Sg-1 do it! What do you think? Raptor

Er... actually no.... I think, as you said, the plot is hackneyed and stale. SG1 save the planet yet again.... Oh come on guys...jeez. However what I do feel is that if Hollywood and TV industry don't stop making stupid films and shows about what could be a REAL threat to this planet any work that real scientists do towards educating governments and the public will be for nothing. the Scientific community are having a hard enough time as it is convincing the governments of the earth that this is a serious issue as it is, without the dubious intervention of Hollywood. Because, when it does happen, we'll all just thinks its a cheesy film script. We are all so de-sensitised to things like danger, violence and horror these days. Kids can't seem to tell the difference between a shoot em up film full of gratuitous violence and a factual newscast of the real thing itself. All the entertainment industry are doing is to make us complacent about something that is a distinct possibility at some stage. And I strongly disagree with that. I think the Stargate production team need to be tied to an asteroid which is heading towards a planet for revisiting this one. And the planet should preferably not be earth!!!

Come on guys, you're missing out on all of the wonderful possibilities of this episode! Such as... when the asteroid is blown up, a small chunk of it breaks off and lands on top of Kinsey's house. They could make THAT into a movie, cause I'd pay ten bucks to see it! Raptor

I do agree with the hacking of the idea to death, but remember all those movies & shows came as a result of the real fear experienced by the real near miss we had with...I can't remeber if it was an astaroid or huge metior or even a comet that had strayed pretty close a few year ago..well a bit more I think I was 16 or 17 at the time (now 24...just for time reference).

Yes, and right around that time they had the pictures of the asteroids hitting Juipter? They were also focusing on mass extinctions cause by asteroids... part of the Alverez theory....

We all love the idea of mass extinction... just as long as we are not a part of it. Speculation is fantasy so the writers write... I just hope that the writers give us a fresh view.... (Why do I feel I am sitting at the colosseum?)

5.15 Fail Safe I did like this one....it was an ok one...at least the whole team were together and not on Earth for a change...(they went through it..but not on it) A little predicable in places..like when O'Neill had to cut the wires ect.. Thought the sceans with Gen. Hammond were sweet.. Overall a good one...what do you guys think!?!

| Wherever I Am, I'm There | SG-1 saved the Earth again... that says it all... I'm almost beginning to agree with Anni about the stale and repetitve storylines but not quite!Lots of the usual Jack humour... "I've seen this film... it hits Paris!" The fact that it wasn't an asteroid but actually a Goa'uld trick, actually made it all more believable. And they should have the proof that the Asgard need now. |
