I think you're being a little harsh. One of the strengths of the series has been, I reckon, its ability to take a cliche and do something different. An asteroid, a bomb, a countdown... we've seen all of these a million times before. However, the asteroid was never artificial, the bomb never set by the good guys, the wires never the some colour through oversight... Besides, I'm just happy to see an off-earth episode again. I was beginning to think they'd run out of money. Oh, Jaxie: if you still haven't seen Armageddon, avoid it at all costs. It's hard to imagine a worse movie. I pray, in fact, that I never imagine a worse movie.

When Jack Said 'I've seen this movie' I sat there saying, yeah - me too ! and I was preparing myself for this to be a bit of a crap episode, but then it started to improve and the fact that the asteroid was created by the Goul'd as a sneaky way of trying to get around the protected planets treaty helped a lot there. OK, there were some cliches (and we all know how we feel about those) but it had its moments. Loved the zapping through the earth bit. And I agree wholeheartedly about Armageddon - didn't like it at all. Best thing about it was the Aerosmith soundtrack !. Now I love disaster movies - next to sci fi they are my fave, but of the two disaster movies that year - Armageddon and Deep Impact - I reckon Deep Impact was far superior

I thought overall this was a pretty good solid ep. Yeah, it was a little cliche but I agree that they did do some pretty different things with it. I think it would have been good if we could get a bit more on the backstory. It would have alowed the story to piece together more easily instead of being thrown together. Like Jack and Danny crashing the Teltak into the Tok'Ra home world. What was up with that? And why are the Tok'Ra on the run again? It was excellent to see the whole team together again!!! I especially enjoyed the repetitive: "I'm confident" "Me too" "As am I" Jack had some good humourous lines as always. The scen with the guys who retrofitted the Death Glider was funny. It was cute how Danny fell asleep on the MALP. Though I still don't think we're seeing enough of Danny. Jaxie - there were a few little scenes between S/J. Nothing overly shippy. She gets zapped by some crystals and he touches her arm and stuff to see that she's okay, then later he touches her waist. But nothing overly shippy. There was this one scene where she's looking over his shoulder that was kinda cute though.

I was reading on Scifi guide last night that in fact this episode was shown out of order...it should have been shown in a few weeks time after summit/last stand double bill. I think the two parter will explain the episode a whole lot better... | |

i beginning to think that the sgc should start doing what colonol maybournes black ops were doing and just procure what they need to defend earth against the gould because latley the allies of earth havent been helping out much. When ever the tokra need the earths help earth always helps out but when we need their help they've always got some excuse. The asgard may of helped earth become a protected planet but when sg1 tells them about the gould sending that asteroid to earth the gould will deny everything and the asgard will probably sit on thier grey butts and do nothing about it. so what i think is that the sgc should take a page out of the NID book on how to handle aliens. beacuse the way things are going by the end of this season the earths allies arent gonna be able to help out much.

I have to agree with Prankster. Actually I agreed with Maybourne in 'Shades of Gray'. When Jack said 'we don't need their stuff, we need them' I thought, "oh yeah, for what?". If they're not going to help us, what do we need them for? About the episode: Pro: 1. Hammond was great. 2. It was nice to see them get off world for a change. 3. No X-Gate 4. No overt shippiness. Con: 1. Hackneyed plot. 2. Why is it that Sam, who has spent her life in the physics lab suddenly is a bomb expert? Shouldn't ex-Special-Ops Jack, who has extensive experience with munitions in the field have been able to handle it himself? This is one more example of "Super Sam". 3. Daniel gets the 3rd choice idea, but, "Super Sam" butts in and says it for him. 4. Teal'c basically raised an eyebrow and said "Indeed" a lot. 5. Skydiver has an excellent point about the Naquadah sensing. 6. Is there some rule that AT has to gets her mug in the camera every 30 seconds? Not the worst episode, but not a particularly good one.

Honestly...... this eppy bored me to tears...... I ended up going back into my beta testing of an online game and stayed there throughout the rest of the eppy. It played away to itself in the corner. Boring...... boring...... boring........ The smugness of SG1 is overflowing my crapometer at the moment. I can hardly wait for good old Danny to bite the dust....and what a shame they have inferred he might be 'ascending' or whatever....... I want one of them to go out in a blossom of blood and guts. Just so we can all see that they are NOT perfect...or saintly and that they CAN get killed. Or just once I would like to see Saintly Sam turn around in the middle of a crisis and say f***k this.....I'm off to get a life and get laid! God knows she needs it.... In the immortal words of one of the fanfic writers..... her legs are locked together tighter than Fort Knox! Sorry but this eppy really gripped my guts!

Gee Anni, tell us what you really think! Anyway, as I said it wasn't the worst, that would be a tossup between Divide & Conquer and Entity, but it wasn't good. The best you can say for it is that the plot didn't rip off the X-files for a change (instead they ripped off Armageddon) and Sam and Jack didn't make googly eyes at each other.

Sky, Yes, What happened that Sam can not sense Naquadah? HOW MANY TONS????? When your story (posted in fan fic) is the best part of the episode.. (just saw it on the tiny steal it screen) Showtime's schedule is the worst thing about this show... next to the major rip offs mentioned.... but the Naquadah thing really riled me!
