As long as all I have to do is play the triangle. Probably the only thing I couldn't really mess up . Although my singing voice isn't bad, it isn't good either

Well, since all I could probably coax from a clarinet these days is a shrill squeal, and I haven't yet learned the drums, I'd be willing to volunteer to play tambourine (at least it's percussion) or maybe those cute little finger cymbals.

Re: What can you play?

I don't suppose any of you musical lot live in the vicinity of Portsmouth, England? In a sudden and disastrous turn of events my band has been reduced to a talented lead guitarist and I; the drummer. If anyone happens to play bass/rythm geetah/sing and live near pompey, plus wants membership of a band (kudos purposes accepted), please get in contact:S

What do you think of a combination of opera and rock?
Yeah! We can write a Rock Opera and call it 'Tommy's Little Brother'

Re: What can you play?

Timmy will be a tenor, and Lassie will be a soprano. What is the plot?

Remember, you have these choices (as it is part opera):

a) love triangle then death for everyone
b) death for only one person while other person runs off with someone else
c) comedy, so nothing much happens accept everyone gets very confused about who everyone else is supposed to be.

I would go for (a) the love triangle and cast Jack from the MVP movies as the third character. Timmy, Lassie and Jack in a love triangle singing a tragic meatloafesque rock opera, I love it!

Could be a new cult hit!

First there was "Rocky Horror", then "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". Now, coming next, is "Timmy".

Re: What can you play?

As you'll see in the classical thread you started, there's no lack of takers for classical music either. I myself learned the piano for a few years - oddly it really helped with my bass playing - and I know that at least one of our members, Mzarynn not only plays a variety of 'classical' instruments but also teaches music.

Re: What can you play?

I won't be very original to say I can play guitar. I don't consider myself a very talented person, but there are some that say I am quite good with it. Wanna paly sometimes in a band, but unfortunately no time...
But recently I found a purpose in my playing guitar - I'm playing it every Friday in the church, when some people from my school are singing during the mass, because our school is responsible for it in Fridays. There are few people in my school playing guitar and if I didn't play, they wouldn't be able to sing. They don't want to sing a capella. So they like me for that (not only for that of koz , but this do not concerns the matter).

Once I used to play piano, but I don't feel like that. Actually, I hae a piano in my home, so everybody's wandering why I can't play it, but probably I am simply too lazy.

Whe I heard Apocalyptica, I felt in love with the sound of cello. I still want to learn play cello, but no realistic prospects in the future.

Esioul, I would very much like to have a loud voice. When I am playing the guitar and singing, nobody can here my voice. I need somebody to sing where Iam playing, if it has to be anything with sense.

Actually, I can play a lot of Bach and Beethoven on the guitar.

And this rock opera - sounds quite good. This idea shouldn't be abandoned.

Re: What can you play?

Thanks for the mention Knivesout! I definitely would have been posting on this thread if it wasn't the end of the school year. On Monday one of my schools is putting on a musical called We Haz Jazz. There will be many fourth and fifth graders dressing up as jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Jelly Roll Morton and many others. It will be exciting, but I'm totally stressed out as always around concert time.

You're not the only one Fallenstar, I also play the flute and piccolo. I picked up saxophone last year when my husband needed a fill in for his pep band. The fingerings are pretty close to flute. It's just making a decent sound that was really challenging. I love to play the piano also. I'd be willing to be the keyboardist in "Timmy." My guitar skills are limited. I can get by playing chords in the classroom so maybe rhythm guitar, but no lead for me. I'm not bad on the ukulele though. hehe

I play many classroom instruments, of course, that anyone can play. Maybe an autoharp for dwndrgn and littlemiss? Just push a button and strum. But if you're set on triangles and finger cymbals, I can arrange that too.
