Well...
In the back of In the Ruin, there is a list of all the characters and it listed Erkanwulf as a soldier in Autun. I don't remember him being in Gent, not that this isn't possible, but many of the characters moved around after the battle of Gent with the Eika.

Also, just a little note, Captain Ulric was just mentioned in the Crown of Stars book and he is with Constance.
