Does ne1 like Laira(sp?) from 'A Hundred Days'? Probably been done b4 but I can't stress enough how much I HATED her!!!! She was sooooo pathetic and way 2 old. I seriously don't c wot Jack saw in her (but then I'm not a guy!) and he was kinda funny with Sam when she was around 2. I can't really explain it but it was just the way he acted around her like she wasn't in SG-1 and he hadn't known her for v.long and she was just sum random, annoying airman that he had been stuck with. Does ne1 agree?

Laria The character of 'Laira' was used as a 'pivot point' by the writers to give us a glimpse into O'Neill... how far he's come out of his shell in regards to letting people like his team into his life, but that, still at heart, he's a very lonely man. The episode gave us an opportunity to see what might happen if Jack was faced with starting his life all over again. I don't think he ever really 'fell in love' with Laria, but more likely found a place of comfort when he could rest. I'm not saying that he might not have come to love her in his own way, but never with the intensity of feeling he had developed for his friends back home. He was a 'tired old soldier' making a 'house' [not home] for himself tp spend the rest of his years in. Somewhere he could feel and be useful and Laria's companionship was an additional benifit. And I believe she also knew this, that Jack's ture heart lay elsewhere, but she was willing to accept what he could give and was content with it. The actualy interpersonal dynamics of the show were pretty telling and intense when seen through the eyes of an outsider who knew of O'Neill's background. 'Laria' served her purpose: she stood as a mirror that Jack's own inner being could reflect on for the rest of us to see.

lene ... I gotta disagree ... but then this world would be pretty darned boring if we all thought the same ... a couple of thoughts ... RDA has asked BW to allow Jack O'Neill to revisit Laira's planet ... so far it's a no go ... but I think it's pretty cool that RDA would want to give his fans that opportunity ... maybe RDA will breakdown and finally write an episode ... ![]() there's an excellent fanfic by Badgergater ... can't remember the name right now ... but it is a bts look at "A Hundred Days" with excellent insight into what Jack O'Neill was going through ... might give you, lene, a chance to see the other side of the "gate" ... so to speak LOL and I personally don't think Jack loved Laira per se ... more of a mutual comfort thing ... they had both suffered tremendous losses, and just sort of looked to each other to make it through a tough time ... and any episode that allows RDA to do the showcase acting thing is A+ in my books __________ come on, I know you wanna check out our web site -> www.rdads.com

I read this in the new Stargate SG1 special (done by TV Zone) According to Anderson, there is one particular aspect of O'Neills life that he would like the shows writters to explore further if the opportunity arises. "There was an episode in our third season (A Hundred Days) in which we gave every indication that O'Neill had fathered a child." Says the actor. "Earlier this year, I asked Brad Wright if he had ever considered doing a story in which O'Neill goes back to that planet and discovers he has got a child. If we did, I would like it to be a daughter, only because he's already had a son. I would love to see a relationship like that unfold in front of the cameras" So we might have seen the last of Laira if RDA gets his way.... ![]()

Yeah I have that issue 2. I think that the idea of O'Neill having another kid really sucks! Especially if it was with that woman!(I can't even bring myself 2 say her name!) I'm totally in2 the whole Sam/Jack thing which would explain my hatred of her but she's soooooo pathetic, selfish, annoying, selfish, boring, selfish, stupid and did I mention selfish? I had a best friend once who got jealous everytime I even spoke 2 ne1 else. That's kinda wot she's like with the whole 'not telling O'Neill about the radio' thing. R there ne S/J ers out there who agree with me?

O'Neill and children Jack has shown himself to be a pretty great 'Dad' when the show has given him a chance. I think it would be interesting to see him in a position where he discovered he *does* have another child... another chance at being a father. Would he want to give up his place in the SGC and all his friends and family there to go back and live out the rest of his time in that very pastorial environment? Could the 'Up and Go Get 'em' O'Neill retreat to himself like that knowning full well that SG-1 and the SCG are what are keeping the Goa'uld from taking over Earth? Which 'duty' to him would be the greater? I mean, he'd probably try and get Laria to come to Earth, but she's as stubborn about takeing care of her people as he is about his. {Lene, what you're seeing as stubborn, selfish, etc may also be the traits of a woman in a strong leadership position... don't discount that.} I doubt she'd come... she has the same ties to her position and her people as Jack has to his. And I think their 'time' together was more of two lonely people comforting each other rather than love. So, perhaps, O'Neill's feelings might/could run along the lines of 'It's my duty to make sure she and the child are taken care of .' The 'honorable thing' guys used to do much more frequently when they got a gal pregnant. Jack does come from this era. There are a lot of possibilities if this episodes should come to past. I think the script would give RDA a wonderful platform to play out a whole range of O'Neill we haven't seen before. That's just my take on the matter. Being a writer, I try to see all possible aspects. YMMV.

I sorry...and please refrain from flaming...but I loved this episode, and I loved the interaction between Jack and Laira. I agree that they didn't love each other in the time he was on that world...but as far as that goes, I don't think he was there long enough for that to truly happen. In my mind, I believe it would have happened, if he hadn't left to go back to Earth. I loved Jack with Laira. Of course, I'm one of the minority that doesn't see Jack with Sam, I see her more with Daniel, since they are both of the scientific type with more in common <shrug>. I really loved Laira's strength of character. She obviously ruled her own roost, and didn't go along begging Jack to stay or anything like that, even though she may have been carrying his baby. I liked that, it said a lot about her. She's not some poor helpless female, she takes care of herself and doesn't ask for anybody's help. It was great to see more of Jack, in any shape, form and fashion--regardless!! ![]()

The attraction was clear between them from the start but I don't think he would have started anything if he knew he could have gotten home......but I think I would like him to go back and see her...just to find out what would happen ![]() | |

I'd like to see him go back, too. I don't know, I just really liked the interplay between them. I'm glad you brought up that Laira knew what she was getting into; I love that--she knew all along how badly Jack wanted to get home, and for one thing bided her time until she thought he was finally able to let go and be with her.

I would really like to see how Jack would react to having a child! Would he stay with Laria and his new child and give up SG1 or would he want her to come back to earth (not as she would) Where would his loyalty lay? Saving Earth or being with his child..... Oh I can feel a fanfic coming on!!!!!! ![]() | |

Well.. Jack and Laira? I never really got the feeling that he liked her at all. He was lonely, confused and drunk, she wanted a kid, so they slept together. Actually, I see Laira as someone with less than honorable intentions who used him despite his emotional state of having been forever cut off from home. That makes me dislike her very much. And as it seems Jack himself has probably figured that out too, which would explain why he's never gone back to see her and likely never will. Though if he did, I'd like to see that come through in the storlyline and allow Jack some well-deserved hatred of the woman. And its a guarantee Laira will never end up preggers with his kidlet. Besides that, the only one who should have his child should be someone who actually deserves the man. Laira does not.
