Obviously you haven't listened to Ummagumma, Wish You Were Here, The Final Cut, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, and Atom Heart Mother. Anyone who thinks those albums sound like each other is hilariously wrong. (For a comparison with recent music, it'd be like thinking that Westlife, Radiohead, The White Stripes, Chemical Brothers, and Slipknot all sound the same as each other) ![]() For bands whose albums all sounds the same, try The Ramones, Status Quo, or Kylie There are Pink Floyd forums where you are spoiled for choice when it comes to pre-DSOTM topics.

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album OK Harpo - I'll admit that early Floyd is much more original (and I like - and actually own - Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets, old hippie that I am), but the concept albums I find dull, dull, dull! Everything after 'Dark Side....' sounds the same to me - a mush of sound with the occasional decent guitar lick breaking through. I just can't get into it at all. Sorry! |

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album Atom Heart Mother and Meddle for me though I also like Piper and Ummagumma's Live album. Its odd that ive listened to these along with DSOTM, WYWH and Animals countless times but just about every other Pink Floyd album ive listened to once or twice and never bothered with again. Ive got all Syds stuff too and listen to it all regularly. |

You could at best say that Animals, The Wall, and the Final Cut are similar sounding. But they are very different from the last two albums, and then of course the Wish You Were Here album is different again. The Final Cut and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason are, for consecutive albums, extremely different (a good case can be made for them being two solo albums disguised as Pink Floyd albums)

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album I only have 3 PF albums, Dark Side, Wish you were here and The Wall which is pants. Dark Side and Wish you were here could be by different bands they're so different, and The Wall is pants by comparison, too many duff tracks on what would be better a a single album. |

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album Tough call between Meddle and Obscured by Clouds, but I went with the latter even though it seems wrong. After that, maybe something like The Piper at the Gates of Dawn A Saucerful of Secrets Ummagumma which is oddly in chronological order before the uptick at Meddle. I'm not sure about this, though, as I don't currently have Ummagumma. I can't even remember if I've heard More or Atom Heart Mother at all. I'd take about any album before DSOTM over any of what I've heard after The Wall, though. And, AE, thou shalt write "The Wall is great" 100 times. You were sounding perilously similar to High Eight. |

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album I'm sorry but I still think The Wall as an album is an epic fail! Too long, too many mediocre songs on it. Never heard it when it came out even tho I loved the title track. Then we finally got a copy and was so disappointed! I think we sold it or traded it in. I want to find some of their earlier albums tho! |

| Re: Favorite Pre-Darkside Floyd Album out of those listed it is a toss up between saucer and ummagumma but I would be another to vote for relics if that had nbeen included. every track on relics is great and I never tire of listening to it |

Yep I'd go with that. Everything on DSOM is unskippable Unlike the other output. OK, so I've heard DSOM a few times more but then that's poly ticks
