The device on Brienne's shield seems to be from the short story of Dunk... don't know the name of it. This was discussed somewhere, but I can't find it.
I just reread Brienne's last POV.
Perhaps she screams "Jaime." Doing so could be to proclaim her affection for the Kingslayer because when she dreams early in the chapter and thinks she's going to die she screams "Jaime." On the other hand, she may call out Jaime's name as affirmation that she will choose to kill Jaime for Stoneheart.
The thing is... she's looking at Podrick Payne and thinking how unfair it is for him to die (she could care less about Ser Hyle Hunt). So I think she thinks of something to say that may gain a reprieve for Pod... |
