Re: Which 80's Tracks Are You Listening To? I still listen to a few things from the 80's on a regular basis which haven't been mentioned (unless I missed them): Peter Gabriel - The entire album 'So' except for "Sledgehammer" (I'm not much into pure dance music - I was once labeled a "gear-head" by a girl in an 80's club Never did quite learn what the term meant, but it was in that context.) I also liked the accompaniments he did with Kate Bush. Paul Simon - Graceland ("I Know what I know" has great lyrics but the accompaniment is raw African, and tough to handle if you're not ready for it.) AND! Stevie Ray Vaughn - 'Texas Flood', and 'Couldn't stand the weather'. Frank Zappa - Valley Girl The Georgia Satellites - Keep Your Hands To Yourself. Elvis Costello - Everyday I write the book The Fixx - Deeper, and Deeper Another "Flash-in the-pan" tune I liked was Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly (the rest of the album was good too) The others have been mentioned: U2 Simple Minds Thomas Dolby Kate Bush Echo & the Bunnymen (Brian Eno) Human League REM Men at Work Sting Whitesnake But many bands/artists actually started in the 70's (or earlier) and either rose to higher popularity in the 80's or were still going strong: AC DC David Bowie Elvis Costello Dire Straits The Cars The Police The Talking Heads Supertramp Black Sabbath Motley Crue Dire Straits Bryan Adams Fleetwood Mac Queen Brian Eno Pink Floyd Genesis Kansas Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Paul Simon Vangelis Van Halen And No one's mentioned - King Crimson with Robert Fripp who did a lot of work with Brian Eno. I've probably left some out and I'll shout about it later, but it's getting late here. I've listened to all of these and loved them for a time, a few of them I don't listen to anymore - Van Halen being one. ( I can still play the intro to "Hot for Teacher" on my Kramer electric guitar) ![]() - Z.

Re: Which 80's Tracks Are You Listening To? There's still room for Thompson Twins and Duran Duran on my CD tray, I'm afraid. And Frankie Goes to Hollywood - it's the Trevor Horne influence, really, but some intriguing stuff. Last edited by Interference; 14th May 2008 at 03:13 PM.

Re: Which 80's Tracks Are You Listening To? - The thing is, I really liked his advice "Relax, don't do it, when you wanna go to it". Used in a sexual context it can help things last a good while longer, but once I heard the advice - I didn't need to buy the music! ![]() Now what if we include "London Calling" - The Clash? (It was released in mid December 1979 in the UK, but not until February of 1980 in the U.S. I remembered a few other's I still listen to now and then: The Firm (Yes, the band! ... You know: Jimmy Page from 'Led Zeppelin' & Paul Rodgers from 'Free'.) The band 'Heart' Made a comeback in 1985 with "These Dreams", "Never", "What about Love?", etc. Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore, originally from Dio) - The 80's tune I liked was "Street of Dreams". Also (How could I have forgotten??) Joe Satriani - The albums "Surfing with the Alien", and "Flying in a Blue Dream" Were both amazing, and both done in the 80's but I thought "The Extremist" was even better (Should we start a 90's music thread?) - Z.
