Just off to watch this on SciFi Channel right now.

The Sliders travel to a parallel dimension, which at first glance seems like paradise. Everyone is encouraged to play the lottery and winners are treated like royalty and given anything they want. But when Wade wins, she discovers that there is always a price to pay - in this case, the ultimate price.

This was the last of the original first series, cancelled after only ten excellent episodes. Notice how Quinn gets shot at the end so he can be easily written out if needs be!
