ConventionVirgin from UK needs help!! Hi guys, As you may have guessed by the subject title, I'm a convention virgin. I was wondering if there are any stargate conventions in the UK? I'd love to go to one, but I'm rather clueless about the whole convention thing. Can any of you more experienced conventioners tell me anything? Thanks Nicola x x

Nic..... s'mee again..... go to the following URL: http://www.wolfevents.co.uk/home/ They are holding Wolf SG3 in November. I am also going to that, in fact I booked that one and then realised that I am in Vancouver for a job interview on the 27th of September and therefore could attend the Gatecon! ![]()

Thanx Anni, I checked out the URL you sent me. I'm giving some serious thought to it, but of course, money is always an issue. I wish money didn't make the world go round ![]()

Actually this will be my first time for both. I booked the Wolf one first because originally I didn't think I would be able to attend Gatecon. I had a job interview in Washington DC on the 20th September with another one in Vancouver on the 28th. Then it changed and I am not now going to Washington for the interview, instead I am getting sent to Dallas on the 17th of September so I figured that this would be ideal for taking in the Gatecon as I am already on that side of the Pond and will travel from Dallas to Vancouver on the 19th. The only drawback is that the return journey will have to go via Dallas also. But I am not going to argue with the company since they are paying for the flight and half the hotel bill. For them it was cheaper than bringing me back from Dallas and then sending me on to Vancouver. I have no idea what happens at the cons.... but have been assured that it's a lot of fun. And I get to check out Vancouver because I will be there for at least two months in May 2002. ![]()

I'm lucky in that I have no ties to keep me in one place. My eldest son and I 'houseshare' we split bills right down the middle including the mortgage. I also have a separate income from military service. A gratuity and also a War Disablement Pension. They pay the bills..... I have no husband to worry about, no boyfriend, my sons are both independent (my youngest has his own house with his wife Chris and their little son). So I more or less do whatever I want (within reason of course!) ![]()

![]() Like Pam said, you could smuggle us! I'm pretty small and light weight... I could probably fit quite easily into any overhead storage facility. ![]() Then again, I'm a 21 year old, blue eyed, bottle blonde! If I play my cards right, I could probably flirt my way to the convention... gee, that sounds so cheap! ![]() | |

Oh, my dear..... please don't think that the ability to flirt leaves you as you get older..... You just get better at it. I'm 50, and a green eyed blonde (no wrinkles, just cute little stretch marks from pregnancy) and I can flirt with the best of them! LOL....... Not sure who you'd have to flirt with, but if you and Pamie are prepared to travel bent in the middle to fit into my holdall, you're quite welcome. I could keep you fed on crisps and packets of Jaffa cakes until we got to Dallas.... then I'd have to hide you both until my meeting there was over, then I'm afraid it would be another two and half hours bent double until Vancouver...... ![]()

Now, now...... kiddies, play nicely please! Or there'll be no space in the holdall for either of you! You'll have to run behind the plane instead! :rolly2:   My green eyes get me into a lot of trouble..... People tend to suddenly realise that they are very green (jade colour) and just stare at me. It's very difficult to maintain a conversation without giggling...... My best friend Janine sat once in a coffee shop while I rambled on and on in a conversation. After a little while I stopped talking and asked her if she was listening and she said "Oh yes.... I mean no.... it's just that your eyes are so mesmerising!" Then when she realised that two men on the next table had heard her and were laughing at her. She then got very flustered and said "Not that I fancy you or anything....." which of course made the whole thing worse! ![]()
