I agree - the books are so good/popular, they will have quite a job to do in order to measure up.

Widh they would bring them out a bit closer together... as it stands they are bringing them out xmas 2001, 2002, 2003....

I will be 3? yr old by the time they are all out

I read the books at least once a year. Am really interested to see what they do to the movie but I agree that it would be nicer if they were closer together. I guess they just want to catch that holiday crowd each year.

has anyone ever seen the movie they did many years ago.... it was an animated version.... that was really spooky film.... DArk and scary

I remember that animated version. Never really cared for it. Thought it wasn't a good version of the story.

I agree, you need to spend more money to do such an epic book justice.

In another thread people were asking when this new film would be released. I can't find the thread, but I have the date.

In 'Dreamwatch' issue 83 -- 'Lord of the Rings' is scheduled for release in the US and UK on 19th Decenber 2001. They are currently reshooting the introduction to the film, dropping a prologue idea with backstories of Isildur and Smeagol, and instead going for Bilbo beginning to write his memoirs at Bag End.
