I agree. I think that science fiction can be a great way to tell 'speculative fiction' with interesting plots, and ideas about things to come, but Hollywood seems to think that Sci Fi is some kind of shorthand for special effects.

The thing that was really great to me about Alien is it was a pre-CGIscience fiction movie that damn near set the standard for suspense. This looks like entirely the opposite.

In the original, you didn't even see the damn alien that often. You had long scenes leading up to it, where it's presence was suggested and hinted at, and when it finally made an appearance it leaped out of the shadows. This teaser suggests this movie is the opposite of that.

No suspense, show every detail. Suspense is just about dead in the cinema these days.
