It just felt honest to me. Perhaps Shane being the 'surrogate' father and a bit of a rebel, Carl went to him. Kids will do many things to avoid punishment or disappointing their parents. I made that comment because Shane's mannerisms did not seem to change with Carl after Rick was found except for an episode or two when he was trying to give him the brush off, probably for good reason in his eyes. Also, I have to believe that Shane had decent qualities in him and tried to balance those the best he could. Either way, Carl didn't seem to hesitate too long before putting a bullet between his eyes.

Was that a question? I remember it being minutes or near an hour or so. Unless you have insight from the comic books that give a better description of what causes this, it seems like a virus to me that everyone has. With some diseases, some people are the carrier with no effects and some people suffer from the disease when they catch it. With this particular 'disease', everyone is the carrier and death is the trigger that activates it. Perhaps it was another one of mankind's
better living through chemistry breakthroughs that completely back fired...
again, and it is an air born pathogen.
(probably something intentionally released in the air to help get rid of pollution by those airplanes that leave contrails everywhere)
