Re: Star Wars vs Star Trek

12. In Star Wars, weapons are primitive and laser based technology that cannot be set to stun.
11. The Millenium Falcon can achieve a speed of .5 past light speed. Wow. Given that a starship can travel many thousands of times the speed of light, going at 1.5 times the speed of light it pretty damn pathetic in comparison.
10. If Darth Vader and his punk droid weren't pussies they'd know how to rough up a captive properly like the Cardassians.
9. Jabba the Hutt would eat Harry Mudds mother. But only because Harry told him it was the only way he'd leave his two-bit gangsters in biusiness. You can take the word eat in whatever context you want to.
8. No, Luke Skywalker is not obsessed with sleeping with every alien he encounters. In the Star Wars galaxy, they like to "keep it in the family."
7. Lightsabers function by the force, therefor they cannot function outside of the star wars galaxy (this is in accordance with star wars canon which dictates that the force does not exist beyond the life of thier galaxy, for more info research Yuzahn Vong). Furthermore, since phasers and disruptors are particle weapons and not simple laser light beam weapons, a lightsaber would not be able to "reflect" incoming phaser fire. Lastly, Klingons know how to make REAL melee weapons. Weapons of steel and grit and manliness, not color gay color coordinated raver sticks.
6. and bless the federation for it. I mean after all, liberating slave one would provide an extra garbage scow for the ferengi or at least fetch a fine penny at a scrapyard.
5. The Death Star? "Oh look at me I can blow up a planet with a huge cost-ineffective and easily destroyed space fortress!" Big deal one El Aurian can cause super novas with a simple missile.
4. Darth Vader could not choke out the Borg. This is once again because the force does not extend outside of the Star Wars galaxy can could therefor not reach the entire collective unless the entire collective were invade the star wars galaxy. And they marked that one off, something about gungans being unworthy of assimilation...
3. Once again, Han solo flooring it isn't even 1/8 impulse power. Also, picard never witlessly piloted his vessel into the mouth of a giant spaceworm.
2. Fancy makeup is often employed by actors seeking to hide thier shame.
1. Death Star vs. Enterprise: Look, the empire can't defeat a race of furry midgets using paleolithic tools, i think a technologically superior foe probably stand a pretty damn good chance.

on a few points here id like to dispute (if you dont mind? )

1) You say that LJP didnt fly the enterprise into a giant worm? indeed, but 7 of 9 did in voyager, forgotten the eppisode name but needless to say, it took a lot of effort from 7 of 9 and that weird guy stuck in there to get voyager out again!

2)I know that star wars and Star Trek Physics is famous for being ludicrous, but needless to say, nothing can go faster than the speed of light. However, the way that ships "jump" in Star Wars is actually more realistic - reating a fold in space is at least pheasible, where as traveling at impossible speeds through countless trillions of potentially damaging particles (that a shield could not stop) is, well, impossible - Actually, after studying physics at uni, its calculated that a computer with at least 10 times the amount of processing power of nething we have to day,(assuming that Warp Speeds are possible) would take around 5 years to calculate a perfect trajectory to avoid asteroids, planets etc etc (something that they take note of in Star Wars as Han is about to jump in the MF)

3) the weapons on Star Wars can be set to stun - the storm trooper in IV stuns Leia when on the Corellian cruiser (just after shes recorded a message for Obi wan)

On the whole tho, I agree with what you say, lol

Re: Star Wars vs Star Trek

To me the question is about which universe is more plausible, and also more immersive. The situations in the star wars universe have much more interesting and believeable characters since they range from the high-born to the street urchin (Leia + Han), and the interactions between them. It has a lot to do with what ordinary people do in a galaxy changing situation.
I just can't indentify with the Star Trek characters at all. Their problems are usually about ambassadors, first contact with other races, and simple solutions to complex made up technology.
Now the books, I like both (star wars make better stories). The films, I like both (The original star wars trilogy is the best of all). But most of star trek is in episodes, and I consider them only mild entertainment.
As for who's ship will kill who: Star trek has more advanced technology, they would win. Does it make the star trek universe better? no.
