[Anni: I can't think of any good quotes from it......] You may not have discovered this yet, Anni, but if you go back to the beginning of this thread there are quotes from the premiere. Be careful you don't read too far, because other episode quotes follow. Most sets of quotes are labeled with the episode that they came from.

Anni, who is your favorite character on BTVS? Mine is Giles. It's the little things such as "It's a snot monster from outer space [pause] I did not say that". Or the Halloween when he was wearing a sombrero for an unknown reason. You're right about the continuity. Other shows could take lessons. I also like the way the show has evolved with the characters. I know a lot of fans complained that it went down hill after they graduated from high school, but what did they expect? Did they think the characters were going to stay in school until they were 35, as in Beverly Hills 90210? Yes the characters act differently now than in earlier seasons, it's because they're 21-22, not 16 anymore. Even though the show has changed considerably, it's still remained true to it's original premise (unlike a certain Sci Fi show I could name). Actually my favorite quote is from Spike: "I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it".

I guess I really like them all..... but I like Buffy and Giles in particular. Giles brought a sense of style to the whole thing and offset Buffy's natural quirkiness. Their sense of humour were totally different, yet acted as a foil for each other. but then again....I also think that Spike, Anya and Xander bring their own inimitable sense of humour and quirkiness to the mix too. And Willow in her own strange way. I guess the folk I'm not too sure about, but still like, are Tara and Dawn. They have their place without a doubt, but my main few are the first I mentioned. I didn't think Riley contributed much to the show at all, although his eppy's were still well done and I couldn't really fault him. I just didn't cotton to him for some reason. Angel I think was better off separating himself from Buffy. When the show began their relationship added the spice factor, but by the time it got to the big showdown at the end of high school, this had been milked for all it was worth and the producers sensibly decided it was time for him to go. And they did it logically, without killing him and without really causing a ripple. (unlike the producers of a certain show starring RDA, who have managed to do nothing but cause alarm and despondency. This particular show's producers could learn a whole helluva lot about how to continue stories and scripts seamlessly from the Buffy team, that's for sure!). All in all.....Buffy is in many ways a superior show to many cruising the TV screens at the moment. It's far superior to stuff like Dark Angel, and from the Season Six opener the other night, the standard has not fallen in my eyes. Even to the fact that Buffy had a whole thick sheaf of hair (hair and nails keep growing after you're dead!) and the grave dirt still on her face and legs. Excellent stuff. Just what I have come to expect from Joss Whedan and his team. After that diatribe.... I guess there isn't a character that I don't feel makes the show. Tara and Dawn are still being developed and as I said I like them.... but not quite as much as the others. Phew.....!!!!!! ![]()

I agree with you about Willow and Dawn, also the whole Angel thing. Joss Whedon is a rare creature, one of the few Powers That Be who know when to end a storyline. After all, how long are Buffy and Angel supposed to yearn helplessly for each other? After a while it just gets silly, you want to slap the characters and say "get a life willya, there's plenty of people out there, stop wasting your time mooning over someone you can't have". (I'm thinking of a certain couple on a particular show starring RDA.) I think the problems with the Riley-Initiative story arc is that science and fantasy simple don't blend well. It wasn't the actors fault. Demons don't belong in a lab. Also, I don't think SMG and the guy who played Riley have any chemistry, not like the sizzling heat between SMG and JM.

gonna interupt this really interesting conversation with some more quotes! 6.04 Flooded Willow: Uh, Buffy, I know you're still getting back on your feet after... Buffy: Lying flat on my back? Buffy: But, I haven't spent any money. I was all dead and frugal. Buffy: I'm kidding. Guys. It's bills. It's money. It's scraps of paper sent by bureaucrats we've never even met, okay? Not the end of the world. Which is too bad, cause that, I'm really good at. Anya: If you want to pay every bill here, every bill that's coming, and have enough left over to start a nice college fund for Dawn? Start charging. Buffy: For what? Anya: Slaying vampires! You provide a valuable service to the whole community. I say, cash in. Buffy: Well that’s an idea... you would have. ![]() Xander: Anya, if I tell them we're engaged right after you dared me to ... wouldn't you always wonder if that's the only reason I did it? Anya: Oh. Xander: Score one for Captain Logic. Anya: No, no. Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat. I smell Captain Fear at the wheel! God, I hate this. This tone in my voice? I dislike it more than you do, and I'm closer to it! Buffy (to Dawn): You do research now? You want a cappuccino, maybe a pack of cigarettes to go with that? Giles: My God, Buffy. You're alive. You're here. And you're still... Remarkably strong. Buffy: Huh? Oh. Sorry. ![]() Buffy: I take some getting used to. I'm still getting used to me. Giles: It's ... you're a... Buffy: A miracle? Giles: Yes. But then, I've always thought so. ![]() Anya: Giles! God, we are so glad to see you. We missed you. You can't have the store back. Andrew: But I don't want to kill Buffy, either! Jonathan: Yeah, she saved my life a bunch of times. Plus - she's hot. Willow: You're right. The Magicks I used are incredibly powerful. I'm incredibly powerful. And maybe it's not such a good idea for you to piss me off. (!!!!!!) Andrew: I still can't believe it. We did it! We can do anything. We, we can stay up all night if we wanna. Warren: Whoa, whoa, don't get all crazy on us, Andrew. Andrew: I'm only saying... Giles: Well; now I know I'm back in America as I've been knocked unconscious. Buffy: Who'd be calling? Everyone I know lives here.

those were good. i was just going thru some of my old tapes today, and i found some more. some of these may have already been on here, maybe even from me, but i don't care. Xander: I'm exhausted just looking at those two. All the splashing and jumping and running... Shouldn't relaxing involve less exertion? Anya: Absolutely. Exertion can lead to sweatiness. Tara: Which can cause the pain and heartbreak of stinkiness. Better to just stay put. Willow: I think we've just put our finger on why we're the sidekicks. Buffy: Who are you? Dracula: I apologize. I assumed you knew. I am Dracula. Buffy: Get out! Willow: "Well, I think we have Dracula factoids." Xander: "Like any of that's enough to fight the dark master... bator." Willow: "He, he can read and control minds... appear in dreams..." Buffy: "Uh huh." Willow: "Makes sense. That stare... he just kinda... looked right through you. Didn't you feel it, Buffy?" Buffy: "No. No, I didn't." Xander: "See! Buffy didn't feel it. I think you're drawing a low of crazy conclusions about the unholy prince... bator." Xander: I wish dating was like slaying: you know, simple, direct, stake to the heart, no muss, no fuss. Buffy: Sorry to say, Xand, slaying is a tad more perilous than dating. Xander: Well, you're obviously not dating Cordelia. Xander: It's time for me to act like a man. And hide.
