| Um, I don't think I've said hello yet Only been here since yesterday, so I suppose it's not that vital. Hello everyone anyway. Um, I'm a student and I'm going to study archaeology next year, I'm obsessed with Mesopotamia and digging. I also like writing, funnily enough. At the moment I'm writing a sort of historical-ish short-ish story and a longer sci-fi. |

| Super Moderator | Re: Um, I don't think I've said hello yet Welcome, Esioul. An archaeologist, eh? Very cool. I had visions of being an archaeologist at one time. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to going to school, arthritis had begun to set in - and I could not envision being the sort of archaeologist who can't actually get out in the field and dig. So, I studied cultural anthropology instead. Well, intercultural studies, but that comes out to about the same thing. Anyway, welcome. If you look around a bit, you'll find that we do discuss archaeolgoical issues on occasion on the history and science boards. Besides all the other foolishness we get up to around here. It's a fun place. Glad you decided to join us. |

Archaeology, eh? Interesting subject - very interesting. Reading ancient history is one of my personal hobbies, though I tend to stick around the Graeco-Roman side of it. Speaking of which, I should really see about pushing our history section more. ![]() Btw - in case of any interest, feel free to visit our sister site, www.comparative-religion.com - there's a modest section on ancient Mesopotamia writings, and in the "General Articles" section there's some excellent commentary on the "documents hypothesis" named "Torah Torah Torah". | |

| Re: Um, I don't think I've said hello yet Thanks everyone! Brian, that looks good, I'll be checking that later. I like ancient history too, but I've decided to study pure arch. I'd like to do a bit more Latin, if possible- Iv'e been studying it this year for the firts time and I think it's really fun. You're an anttrhopologist littlemissattitude? That's really cool. One thing that always confuses me about that is the difference between anth, ethnoarch, and ethnography.... they all seem the same to me. When I think I know enough I might put some of the stuff I know about Mesopotamia in a story, and I'm at present writing one which is sort of Roman focuses. |
