Amber Benson will host a showing of her independent film, "Chance" on March 25th at California State University, Sacramento as a part of their salute to Women’s History Month.

For those of you who may not know, this is a film that Amber produced, wrote, directed and starred in.

The cast also includes James (Spike) Marsters, Andy (Lorne, The Musical Host) Hallett and Buffy/Angel writer David Fury.

According to IMDb:

Chance Is a black comedy about how hard it is to find "the one". We're all out there looking for true love-a very elusive thing indeed, and Chance is no exception. She's desperately on the prowl for a man, but since she's more mouse than cat, she get's herself into scrape after scrape in her screwball pursuit of love. Surrounded by a bevy of adoring but completely wrong for her men (and one dead girl from Manchester), Chance has to pick her way through her messy life in order to figure out which guy is "It".

Even though Eliza "Faith" Dushku's new series doesn't have a name yet. It does have a premise.

For those of you who may not know, Eliza signed with FOX to do the pilot and if its picked up, will probably star in the series next season.

LINK
Zap2it.com reports:

John Feldman, creator of the FOX pilot, says he had Dushku in mind when writing his lead character, a young woman who discovers she can go back in time and relive a day in order to save lives.

For those of you who may not have heard ANGEL has been renewed and will appear on the WB on Wednesday night at 9pm EST in the USA. So we won't have to go without a Mutant Enemy Production this season!

According to sources the proposed name for the show is "True Calling". FOX is supposed to making an announcement on Thursday of their line-up for next season. Then we will find if Eliza has a series.

In a strange coincidence, Harry "The Mayor" Groener will be appearing next season on the WB in a comedy called... THE MAYOR!

He isn't the star. The series is about an 18-year-old who becomes an activist over a small issue and finds himself elected Mayor of a small town.

I saw Harry Groener on an ep of JAG -- no wait -- that wasn't Harry (but I did see him in something - just can't remember what) --

On JAG - it was the guy who was the vampire-client of W&H in the first ep of Angel -- the one Angel threw out the window

And 'yeah' on the Angel renewal!

I saw a note about Alyson that reminded me that we haven't had an update on our favorite stars for a while, so...

'When Harry Met Sally' Bland on Stage
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LONDON (AP) -- The fake orgasm scene is about the most real moment in the London stage premiere of ``When Harry Met Sally ...,'' the much-loved Billy Crystal-Meg Ryan movie that has now become a harmless, bland star vehicle for television stars Luke Perry and Alyson Hannigan.

Perry, star of ``Beverly Hills 90210,'' and Hannigan, Willow from ``Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,'' are the latest American TV imports to try their luck on the British stage. You can bet they will not be the last...

...The difference here is that those Broadway musicals took their source films largely as a jumping-off point. The stage ``Harry,'' though, is a case of slavish, almost pointless, imitation: It copies Nora Ephron's screenplay nearly moment by moment -- sometimes line by line -- without ever capturing the film's easy charm or wit.

The 1989 movie, directed by Rob Reiner, remains best remembered for the restaurant scene featuring Meg Ryan's fake orgasm. The scene arrives on cue in the play near the end of Act 1. The throes of passion are moaned for optimal comic effect by Hannigan, who has inherited Ryan's screen role as the perky, fastidious Sally. But too much of stage director Loveday Ingram's production comes across as a Cliff Notes version of the film...

...Though engaging, Perry is too lightweight a presence for the part, and he doesn't sound comfortable with the Jewish-etched zing of Ephron's writing, which was so perfectly matched to [Billy] Crystal.

Hannigan is more audible, certainly, but she brings a somewhat shrill quality to the less rewarding of the two leading roles. No wonder the fake orgasm shows the actress at her best: For that moment, at least, Hannigan looks as if she is having fun, and the audience, however briefly, is, too.

The play, which opened Feb. 20, is booked through May 29 at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.

Nicholas Brandon has booked a TV movie called "Celeste in the City" scheduled for ABC on 7 March 2004.

It's about a young girl who moves from a small town to Manhattan and gets made over by her gay male cousin, and the romantic adventures that follow for her. Nicholas will play the cousin.

Emma Caufield has finished a movie called "Bandwagon" that is described as:

"A renowned Danish documentary crew follows Emma Caufield, celebrity, to highlight her humanitarian efforts in reforming farming practices. During filming, a much more interesting charity project falls into Emma's lap while the crew continues to document the events as they unfold."

Tom Lenk, David Fury and Joss Whedon are listed as appearing in the film as themselves.

You should visit the official website for the film if you're curious - http://www.bandwagonthemovie.com/

Also - Emma Caulfield, Jason Priestley and Bradley Cooper starred in the ABC TV movie "I Want to Marry Ryan Banks," about an actor who stages a reality TV show that will choose him a wife. Emma is the love interest of both of the male leads.

Sarah Michelle is signed for "Romantic Comedy" which is in pre-production. The premise of the film is that a guy intends to woo the woman he loves by using romantic ideas from famous films.

--

She is filming "The Grudge", a supernatural horror film concerning a virus-like curse that hits certain people at death, only to be passed along to a new victim.

Apparently this is a remake or more correctly "made in the spirit of" a Japanese movie franchise called "Ju On". One such film is called "Ju On:The Grudge" and is described thusly:

"The various supernatural experiences undergone by the different owners of the house, unaware of the horrible events that have taken place here, mingle across time, and the true form of the terrifying, invisible "Ju-On" that nests in this house becomes clear..."

The really outstanding thing about this "American rip-off" of a Japanese import is that the director of the original film (Takashi Shimizu) is directing the rip-off.

--

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, will be released on 26 March 2004 in the US.

Anthony Stewart Head has a role of unknown importance in a film called, "Fat Slags" scheduled for release in the UK on 9 April 2004.

"Fat Slags" charts the rise and fall of our eponymous heroines, who are unrepentantly vulgar and crass. Leaving their hometown of Fulchester in the North of England, Sandra and Tracey head for the bright lights of London, shagging and boozing their way to fame and fortune...

Michelle Trachtenberg appears as one of the buddies in the "four-buddies-road-trip-through-Europe-making-typical-American-idiots-out-of-themselves" flick - "Eurotrip", which once had the working title "The Ugly Americans".

That film is playing to small audiences in the US and opens across Europe in May.

--

The ambitious Michelle also has three new projects in the hopper.

Her film "Mysterious Skin", in which, two young men become close friends, then discover a common link to the past that shaped them each in different ways, is in post-production.

--

She is filming "Odd Girl Out". Michelle stars as a popular girl at a prestigious boarding school who finds her archenemy in a new student.

--

Lastly, she is due to begin filming, "Ice Princess". The official website (http://www.thezreview.co.uk/comingso...ceprincess.htm) says:

"The movie centres on a brainy ugly duckling (Trachtenberg) who realizes her dream of becoming a champion figure skater with the help of physics, a disgraced coach, three snooty ice princesses, a chorus of stage parents and the hunky boy who drives the Zamboni."

James Marsters -- not currently working on anything 'film' related except Angel -- but he and the rest of the band - Ghost of the Robot will be tripping around Europe on tour again this summer. I think the tour begins in June (check the official site for official details) -

That's about all on him...

As many of you British ASciFi's know the BBC is preparing to gear up production of the iconic Dr. Who.

ASciFi already has a forum ready http://www.ascifi.com/forums/forumdi...=&forumid=1326
and guess who is the moderator! Of course, Dave is there a lot more than I am and he carries most of the heavy loads.

Any, to get to the crossover, Producer/Writer Russell T. Davies recently announced the selelction of a new female companion for the Doctor.

[For those of you who may not be familiar with the show, the Doctor is a human-looking alien that travels both time and space stumbling into one adventure after another. He has a soft spot in his heart for humans and often takes on individuals to travel with him for a time - they are called companions, in the classic non-sexual use of the term.]

In the old days of television, the females were usually good for screaming when trouble was near and having to be rescued.

That was then; this is now:

"A screaming girly companion is unacceptable now," Davies told TV Times. "I don't mean in terms of women's rights - dramatically, we've got "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" now, so a screaming girly companion would be laughed out of the room."

So, Buffy continues to have an impact on television drama.
