I forgot to ask.........

Allan, will you be going to BOBW13 in October?

At this stage, I'll be there with my son (there's NO WAY I can go and not take him). Shelby intends to go. Jad has to take a long hard look at himself and meditate on his priorities. Marty's a bit far away and I don't think he'll be there.

We can make BOBW13 an Ausgate get together

I'm not even sure If I will be back in the country by then.

I would love to go, simply since i've made so many new aussie friends through these boards.

What date in october is it... I probably won't be hitting australian soil till at least the second week in october (that's if i'm not in some canadian mental instition by then).

But an ausgate get together sounds great... I would love to meet you (and all) in person.

The date hasn't been released yet but the understanding is that it will be late october, which suits me the best.

You'd better make sure you have the top travel insurance before you go.

Don't forget that Canadian and US health costs are extremely high and, well, if the men in white coats get you ....... visits to the nice padded rooms with soothing music playing in the background tend to be of an indefinite duration.

I suppose we could always club together and pay for your treatment .......... or for one day's treatment what with the value of our mighty Australian dollar

Well, I say we have a big get-together.

If not an ausgate one, then an ascfifi.com one.

I think it's the way to go !!!

shortea,

You will have to come up and say Hi, when you get there.

Actually, that's an invite to everyone goinfg to Gatecon from ascifi.com... Come up and say G'day !!!!

If you don't know what I look like... just look for the aussie making a fool of himself up on stage as the MC.

GOD!!! I felt like an idiot last year... I was soooo nervous (I think everyone noticed), then I started loosing my voice... It was sooooo embarrasing

Hahahahahahahaha.........oh, what I would give to see that.

I die when I have to give a serious speech to a roomful of people. But to MC a con! Damn, there is NO WAY I could do that. You have my undying admiration for even attempting it.

PS are you anything like the MC on Galaxy Quest? Erk. I hope not.

I suppose the ones to judge whether i'm an OK MC or not would be the ones that saw me at Gatecon 2000.

I'm not egotistical like some MC's can be... I'm not an overly fanatical fan. Mind you, I think a lot of people got a kick out of seing me dressed as a Tok'ra... or was that because I was in tights.... mmmm, i'll have to think about that one. :rolly2:

But I treat all the guests like they are a bunch of friends. They get no royalty treatment from me, but they do get a lot of respect (except when I tried to kick Chris Judge off the stage... that was funny).

Make them feel at home, because the 'star' treatment can sometimes alienate them.

I suppose I must have done something right, because it wasn't long before I was treated like a friend by them... and especially by Don (S. Davis), Teryl and Peter Williams... What a great bunch of people

That would be a nice idea.

Shortea, can't you tell I'm one of the mad australians

that's what makes it so hard about getting to gatecon. 19 hours across the pacific to vancouver and feeling like death when you get there. I hated the place my first day there because I was suffering REALLY badly from jetlag. but after a really good night's sleep, I loved it.

Can't get enough of vancouver. I've already put it to my husband that in years to come I would like to move over there for awhile. There and New Hampshire or possibly Maine (probably New Hampshire 'cause they don't have any state taxes and Maine does). I shouldn't start on this because I can (and do) go on about Canada and NE USA for ages.

Shortea, you were born in the US. Are you still there? If so, where?
