|  Oh, my....this is unlike any MB I've ever posted to....do you have to have a doctorate to post here?  I have read the other newbie posts, and am very glad to see we have spoiler warnings...they can definitely sneak up on you! LOL! I look forward to discussing SG-1 with all of you...once I figure this new-fangled board out!  |

| Thanks! Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. Annette, I posted on the other thread, but I'll post it here also. Bummer is a take on my last name: Bumgarner and it has pretty much taken on a life of it's own. |

|  Welcome Bummer! Hi Bummer! Welcome and thank you for posting. Yes, it is a large site! I am glad that you have found the New Member section of AsciFi. Stargate and have stared to talk with us! Think of the Branching controls at the top of the page as a road that takes you where you wish to go. At the start we have ASciFi. the underlined first word. If you click on that you can see all the areas you can go to including our Mini Sections, Buffy, Farscape, AScifi, com , Chit Chat and Stargate. To get to the thread you then entered Stargate and saw on the menu all the other places to go to whcih included Stargate General Chat which you clicked on and found Newbie Forum which you clicked on and then started the thread, Yet another newbie! Sounds Complicated but once you get the hang and sense of the site you can use the branching controls to get anywhere you need to go. If you want to go to the general Chit Chat Forum simply click on the ASciFi at the top of the page and you go to the main menu. Whenthat pops up you then can click on ChitChat and go join all the members in talking about anything except thier shows. Why that name is a popular thread as is Welcome Martouf (That is a joke one of the moderators wanted his own Welcome thread and started it for himself and thatthread took off and we all make general cracks about Marty's thread and the world in general and Australia or pink elephants or...) Posting is anywhere on the site except the Forbidden zones. We have SPOILER WARNINGS... just type a left bracket [ the word SPOILER and the right bracket ] and you have warning posted when you submit you post. We do this as a curtesy for people when we talk outside the season of a shows current fora about the show's events or characters. For Stargate there are some people that are just finishing up Season 1 while many of us are on season 3 or 4. We also keep our posting 'g' rated we are child and old folk friendly, and we do not flame our members. When you want to start a thread as you have done we keep it in the appropriate fora... All of which you have done! We have a myrad of buttons around here. pm on the bottom of your post allows you to send a private message. This is useful when you find something you need answers to that you have not found posted or you do not want to post about on the threads. Click on the pm button and talk to a person. If you are questioning a post or a thread or just curious pm a moderator (we are the ones with the light blue aliens) or you can just e-mail us ~just click on e-mail~ and we will get back to you! Buddy is one that lets you now when your buddy ( you have clicked on this button on the bottom of someone's post) is on line and you two or three can chat by pm if you wish. We have a faq (frequently asked questions button) at the top right of your screen. That is a good one to read before you get nto profile. Once in profile you can change your profile and add things or change you signatureline, add a avatar after a few posts, things like that. There is a lot to do Please don't feel to over whelmed pm moderator for help if you feel like it. Experiment with the buttons and read, play and enjoy the time spent here! |
