Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I had just gotten used to the idea that it was coming out later than expected and now you tell me it's gonna have more goodies?! Who's in charge of this mess?! Are they intentionally trying to drive us all mad?! (mad crazy not mad angry) I guess we could start a countdown until the new DVD comes out. Naaah. That would be too painful even for me. pkgrl, question - Did the article mention who was on the commentary or did they just leave ya guessing? Later Scapers...!!!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... pkgrl, you are really making it hard for me to keep my sanity. I LOVE the commentaries! Anthony is a hoot and Claudia and Ben's discussion on Throne for a Loss was incredible. You can really hear the chemistry between them. I can't wait to see what they have to say about the last eppy of Season 1. Thanks for the info! Later Scapers...!!!

BIG NEWS EVERYBODY!!! I just read on ADVFilms site that as of today they have picked up the rights to Seasons 2 - 5 for DVD/Video! That's right, we are guaranteed to get all 5 (so far) seasons of Farscape on DVD! They didn't have any details on when we can expect to see Season 2 released but I would imagine that since they just acquired the rights it could be a little while. I think I'll drop them a line and se what's what. Back soon with more news (hopefully)! Oh yeah... tomorrow we get the last disc for Season 1 also. Later Scapers...!!!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... WOW! I didn't expect a response from ADVFilms for at least a couple of days but whaddaya know, they wrote me back last night! What I have is some good news and some bad news. Bad news first - still no release date for Season 2 yet. I didn't really expect one so soon after Season 1 was finished but we can hope. And the good news - ADVFilms confirmed that they are currently working on Season 2! That's great news for us because it means the first release can't be too far off. Any more news and I'll let you know. P.S. Today we get the last volume of Season 1! I'll be back later in the week with my review and a detailed description of all the extras! (PkGrl, I expect you to chime in on this also! )Later Scapers...!!!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... Well, I just picked up my copy of Farscape Volume#11 DVD and I must say I can't wait to watch it. I was a bit startled when I first looked at the back of the box and saw that there was no mention of the commentaries. But I was delighted to see that there are not 1, not 2 but 3 video profiles! There are "Evil Mastermind" DK (David Kemper), the god of the Uncharted Territories Rockne O'Bannon and finally the "birthplace" of Rygel and Pilot - Jim Henson's Creature Shop!!! Anyway, about the commentaries, they are there. I checked my disc when I got home and PkGrl was right. Maybe when they recorded the commentaries for the last 2 of Season 1 they also did the first few for Season 2? I was told that ADV is working on them already so who knows. I'll be back with reviews of the episodes (bonus footage-woohoo) and the plethora of extras on this disc. Later Scapers...!!!

So where's the review? I watched my new DVD twice already  Once without the commentaries and again with them. I got some new info from Anth's about locations shooting and "space food" and you can still hear the great chemistry between Claud and Ben on their commentary. I love hearing little tid-bits like, she hates Aeryn's line, "Just to be in the warm glow of all this testosterone," but Ben loves it. She has the same problem with it that I did (even though I love it!) and that is that it sounds too Earth-based. She doubts Aeryn would have a problem with testosterone, and in fact probably thrives on it herself... besides which, Sebaceans probably have a different term for the hormone (just MHO).Anyway, if any of you guys aren't collecting ALL of the season one DVDs, DEFINATELY get this one. You won't be disappointed... at least, I seriously doubt you could be. Later all!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... Well, I watched the video profiles on the Volume 11 disc last night. I must admit I was a bit disappointed. Let me start with, what I thought was the worst of the 3 - The Creature Shop profile. It was pretty much just "this is where we make the creatures". There wasn't any background about how they get from concept to design to fabrication to the set. Of course, I'm a DVD snob in the worst way so I was expecting a 45 minute tour of the entire shop complete with a step by step guide to building a Farscape monster. There was one interesting tidbit though - they mentioned that the Sheyangs were originally supposed to be only in a background shot and after seeing the complete costume an episode was written for them. So it wasn't all bad. Now, I've never met David Kemper or seen him doing any interviews or anything so his profile was my first exposure to him. Is it just me or does the guy not know how to speak in complete sentences? Seriously, he kept rambling in incomplete thoughts like Stark when we first met him. Only Kemper was making sense. He brought some insight into the writing process that he and Rockne use when writing eps but it was just hard to follow most of the time. But I watched this one AFTER the Rockne profile and so by comparison you can tell that DK's best talent is NOT doing anything that involves words but instead coming up with ideas. That must be why he and Rock work so well together. And finally, the god of the Farscape universe - Rockne S. O'Bannon. This was the first profile I watched and while it wasn't gushing with new information I did learn some new things about how he came up with the show and how it eventually got on TV. Rock is a very eloquent speaker and you can tell that he is the man behind the words of Farscape, not just the concept. Like I said before, he and DK make a good team. Both the DK and Rockne profiles featured, in my opinion, way too much footage from the show and not enough interview time. I would have preferred more inside information and even some background on both of these guys. But at least they made an effort so that counts for something. I give the video profiles a "B". They aren't the best extras I've seen but I have definitely seen a LOT worse. Hopefully they will get more in depth as more of the eps are released on DVD. Later Scapers...!!!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... And I hope to watch the eps with commentary tonight. Work this week has been like being chased by a PK Retrieval Squad. But I think I've lost them and tonight is going to be MY night. So look for my review of the eps and commentaries later in the evening. (probably after I watch Fractures) Later Scapers...!!!

Well, I'm biased (since my first exposure to Rock, DK and Claudi was IN PERSON at the San Diego Comicon ) but I liked the profiles just fine. I actually didn't watch the Creature Shop one, but the Rock profile was good. DK definately wasn't at his best in his profile... he's usually much more eloquant; though he does tend to ramble, but his tangents always make it back to the main point -- unlike many of us who just miss the train of thought altogether. Ben calls the whole experience being Kempered. ![]() I liked Anth's commentary for the extra insight into things like "alien food" and locales where they'd shot FS, but Ben and Claudi's commentary made every penny I spent on every FS DVD worth it! I love those two!

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but... I finally watched the eps on Volume 11 with commentary last night. I was really impressed with Ben and Claudia. They get along great and are obviously having a lot of fun on the show. I just wish Anthony had someone to talk to during his. It would have been cool to have him and Gigi. But he did a great job by himself. Now the wait for Season 2 begins... Later Scapers...!!!
