That's a good question. I’m having a hard time answering it. Teaching music does not reduce my enjoyment of music as a whole. I will always have my music. I still listen to music to unwind after a long day of teaching music.

As far as teaching music being largely fulfilling, that is not really the case either. I enjoy experiencing music with the students, but I miss performing with other musicians. Teaching is not a challenge to my musicianship. It is a challenge to my teaching abilities. I grow in both areas through teaching, but gain much more as a teacher than as a musician. So, I guess to finally get around to answering your question… I need more than teaching music to fill my "musical needs," but it does not reduce my musical enjoyment in any way.

Re: All about us.

Is it difficult finding other musicians to play with? I too have found that jamming or practising with other musicians is a lot more fulfilling and useful than the most strenuous solo practise regimen alone. I hope you find some like minded musicians to play with soon!

Re: All about us.

Thanks! It wasn't difficult to find musicians to play with where I used to live, but we moved at the beginning of this school year. I've been checking the local papers and such to find something. The closest ensemble I've come across is about an hour away. But distance may not matter if we get desperate enough. I've resorted to playing with my husband in his high school pep band. (He's the director, not a student. )

Heh, it does look like an interesting site - I'm not too strong on Thebes, but anything ancient has to be good...

I really like the simplicity of the title in strawberry fair. Saved the page to inspire later.
