it appears that the matrix 2 and star wars episode 2 will come out during the same time period. For more info about the matrix see texane's news thread:
http://www.ascifi.com/forums/showthr...p?postid=18458

so the question is, who will make the most at the box office and secondly which will be better?

My vote is the for the matrix on both accounts.

Hmm, altho SW was not as good as I'd hoped, it is tried and trested. I just want to know how they will handle Matrix2? What can they do? (well I have lots of ideas, but it still won't be as good as the original, mopst likely)

:rolly2: Tough choice.
Star Wars2 would be my choice to do better at box office but Matrix2 would probably be liked most by the grassroots hardcore Sci-fi nuts.
personally I'd like to see Neo kick ass again.

I think it'll be interesting to see... Matrix was a *huge*hits, but SW is still v popular, and has been around for a while.

Well, I will have to see both.

Star Wars has some fanatical die-hard fans, but it needs to appeal to all the people. Episode 1 suffered from having to set up characters and back-story, Episode 2 won't have to so could have more real action and political intrigues. That's what I wanted to see in Episode 1, not the endless chases-- the chase in the swamp lands, the pod race, the underwater chase.

The Matrix 2 will need to be very good to be better than the original. Very, very few sequels are better than the original. Alien 2 is pretty close to it!

I'm not going to say anything certain untill I've seen them, I mean I thought 6th day would be bad but I actually liked it...anyway, back onto the subject. I think Star Wars may do a little better, but saying that I have a friend who is mad on the Matrix so he might go the the cinema 3-4 times just to see the 2nd Matrix film depending on how good it is. I think it's going to be a close call.
