You KNOW you're a TOS fan when... You know you're a TOS fan when... 1. you're asleep, the t.v. is playing and the show comes on and you KNOW the name of the episode by the opening music... 2. When you can repeat the dialog without missing a beat 3. When you know Spock is just going to throw that bowl of Plumak(sp) soup out the door and miss the byestanders every time! *L* I grew up with the series and loved it. Was really saddened when it went off the air. Was great when they brought it back in the early 70's because then my son was able to watch it. Both of us are now Classic Trek fans. There was definitely magic between the actors and characters in TOS, nothing that has been captured since, though I have to say, Voyager comes pretty close. Does anyone remember those little yellow 'computer disks' that they carried around in the one episode with the M-5 computer? Who would have known that today, those are the disks we all use in our "A" drives in the computer? Tell me Gene Roddenberry wasn't psychic! *L*

| Wherever I Am, I'm There | Hi there Macavity, I came to say hello to you but when I reached the scene of the crime Macavity's not there. There are a lot of us 'old timers' here, so please post somemore. What are your views on the rumours about the new series 5. A lot of fans think a pre-original-series series will destroy continuity. We have a discussion of them 'Retro-trek'. It's either that, or possilbly a Time-ship. |

Well Dave, Howdy. *L* And yup, that's me, Macavity, and I'm usually gone by the time someone looks for me at the scene of a crime! *L* And actually, I haven't heard any of the rumors regarding series 5. UPN usually has something on it after Voyager, but because I'm up so early in the a.m. to get to work, I usually fall asleep JUST before the news is on! I'm so ticked at myself for falling asleep before the new Voyager episode was over! *L* BUT, if it's about a series that takes place before the Enterprise and Captain Kirk, I hope they do something along the lines of Starfleet Academy. It would be interesting to see Kirk the 'geek' and Finnigan his tormentor back in star fleet... Would be interesting to see what Spock was like during Star Fleet and the problems he had with Sarek when he decided to join... Might not even be a bad idea to see what McCoy was like before his divorce from 'Joanne" was it? *L* Well, gotta fly or I'm not going to make it into work! *L* Catch up with you later. mc

Well hey there Mac. Ewlyn said that you'd probably pop in here. I didn't know you were a classic Trek fan. Some of my best memories stem from TOS. No matter what anyone says about the growth of ST, it all started with TOS and in my mind, it will always be the best. Like you said, the chemistry between the major three characters was unique. It was wonderful watching them each week just to see and hear, especially, the teasing between Spock and McCoy. I honestly think that watching that show is the reason I got so heavily into computers. I really wanted buttons to push. I sat there and collected every book I could find on the series ... all of the James Blish books and even the Alan Dean Foster adaptations from the cartoons. I've still got the technical manuals and maps. I had the chess game too, but someone stole it. When RPGs came out, got those and TSRs Star Fleet Battles. Great games, especially SFB if you like strategy games. Anyway glad to see you onboard. Cheers,

My~ Yup, major TOS trek fan here! *L* I went to visit a friend in upstate NY about two years ago. Fell sound asleep, she stayed up. I heard the music to the opening of the episode, and before my eyes even opened up, mumbled "Wolf in the Fold" *L* She was VERY impressed! *L* OMG! You had the tri-dimensional chess game! And someone stole it!? Geeze! My Uncle Charlie had the game and it was cool just to look at it! *L* Have no clue what happened to it once he and my aunt split up, but would have given my eye teeth for it! *L* Yes, the three main characters, Bones, Spock and Kirk. There was definitely a bond between them. I think the bond between Kirk and Spock became even stronger after the mind meld when Kirk lost his memory in the episode The Paradise Syndrome, and thought his name was Kirok. Unfortunately don't remember if they became T'hyla (brothers) in a way during that episode or not, but I guess in a way they did. *L* I'd have to say that was one of my favorite episodes. And James Blish was the very FIRST author I read, as far as Star Trek novels went. The first book I ever bought was the hard cover, where he wrote the stories that were aired as episodes on T.V. I would have to say though, that the DUMBEST episode they ever 'threw' together HAD to be Spock's Brain ! *L* That one was just the pits! *L* Way back when, I also did some artwork for a few fanzines, helped one individual re-write her story (and I didn't even get a thank you when it was published! *L*), and wrote three classic trek short stories. That had to be way back in 1991 or so. I'm wondering if I can post them w/o using my real name *L* and I know that a couple sure could use some major editing. *L* mc
