Remember Qualisms? Here's a couple from Bush I thought I'd share with everyone. This isn't meant as anything against Bush, I just think they're kind of comical.

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit...Mars is

can breathe."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 8/11/94

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's
history. I mean in this century's history. But we all
lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more
freedom and democracy - but that could change."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 5/22/98

Governor, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."

good judgments in the future."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"The future will be better tomorrow."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"We're going to have the best educated American people
in the world."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 9/21/97

"People that are really very weird can get into
sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on
history."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr. to Sam Donaldson,
8/17/93

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of
NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a
part of Europe."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"Public speaking is very easy."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr. to reporters in 10/99

"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican"
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people
going to the polls."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"When I have been asked who caused the riots and the
killing in LA, my answer has been direct & simple: Who
is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame.
Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to
blame.
...George W. Bush, Jr.

"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in
terms of not having it."
...Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 5/20/96

teach our children."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 9/18/95

"We're all capable of mistakes, but I do not care to
enlighten you on the mistakes we may or may not have
made."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment.
It's the impurities in our air and water that are
doing it."
....Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

Are you sure this is not the Saturday Night Live or Mad Magazine rendition?

Yes, I have heard him make some of these jewels. George, Jr. is a writer for J. Leno, right? Whadda' mean prez of the USA? What is this, the return of Ronald Reagan?

I'm looking for Goreisms, but I'll admit that I borrowed that list of Bushisms from a friend and haven't had time to do any looking myself.

Anyone have any? Goreims that is?

Cheers,

The last one I hear was that he thought he invented the internet. That he is such a boring speaker that to watch him one goes into snooze control.

Whadda yo mean prez. of the USA? What is this, the return of Ronald Reagan?

There are a lot of people out there saying that Gore was the inventor of the internet. I'm not one of them.

Actually as far as public speaking goes, (except for their last debate) Gore does a fairly good job. Did you see a debate he had with Ross Poirot? He had Poirot running to keep up (which he never did).

Cheers,

A couple of times he approaches alive. Clinton and Reagan were better speakers.

It is really important to me how a person handles themselves when speaking. A person could have absolutely brilliant ideas, but if he can't voice them what good are they? Especially for someone who is in the position of speaking for our entire country to others. The impression they give to most is going to come, not from their ideas, but from the way they are presented. Just my $.02

I have run into many lecturers in my field who were not exciting, but presented their ideas very well and were not hits at speaking for the general public. Bush seems to go for the Jingo and Gore seems to be catching up. All in all a very disapointing election and results. Now Bush has got an appeal in Federal Court to stop the hand counting in Broward county. Apparently the Florida commission projected that Gore was under counted there and in some of the recount found the machines could not count and had to be done by people.

Yeah watched some of the news on Saturday and watched The Capitol Gang - if anyone here in the US has never seen those guys, you ought to check it out. They can be hilarious.

I can't believe so much is being made of what is now called 'chads'.

1. Three corner chad
2. Swinging door chad
3. Hanging chad
4. Dimpled chad
5. Pregnant chad

Why don't they just say that if at least one corner is detached, it counts as a vote?

Cheers,

Now the main difference that has been noted between a dimpled chad and a pregnant chad is that there is more of a dimple in the pregnant one. However it was also said later that a pregnant chad was also one that had a hole punched straight through it. I'm still waiting for some reporter to drop the other shoe.

Cheers,

You are very much in debt to Mr. Gore. He said he invented the Internet. Dummy.

My mind is still boggled at the chad part! My twin says that there is a 3% error with the chads that is why he hates push outs. We used the same type for voting in California. We used to just mark a ballot with ink. We both liked it better.

Thumbs down

No, actually the "pregnant" part in all this is that ALL of the counters in all of the three counties in question are democrats. Big surprise.
