A flawed masterpiece? Until The End of The World. What is it? Road Movie? The world's longest music video? A film about hope, movement and dream addiction? About the little man and the corporate body? Who knows? It's not perfect by any means but, for some reason, I just love this film. I came across a petition somewhere on the web (can't remember where) to get it out on DVD. If you see it.....well....... you know what I want you to do ![]()

Re: A flawed masterpiece? I saw that. Yes, yes, yes, and yes. I think. Maybe just an experiment that works really, really well, something like "2001". Whatever it is, it is a magnificently impressive film. I'm going to have to go try to rent the video and watch it again now. If you find that petition again, let me know. I'd sign it. I saw it on video quite a few years ago.

Re: A flawed masterpiece? Stop the press. Hold the front page - and loads of other cliches! News just coming in: It looks like Anchor Bay will release this film on DVD in April 2004. And just for all you Wenders fanatics - get this! The original was 179 minutes. The one to be released is the marathon 270 minute version. Apparently this version has only been screened a handful of times before. Don't know how accurate this info is but hoping for the best. It just goes to prove my point: God is a Wim wenders fan ![]()

Re: A flawed masterpiece? Probably his most famous film is Paris Texas. For me, Until The End Of The World is definitely his best work. As it says in the post title - a flawed masterpiece. It deals with some really big ideas and is not without its faults. It's an Icarus of a film - flying too high and too close to the sun. Ultimately, it falls. But it's still a very fine and entrancing piece. I don't know how it will fare at the 270 minute length but I'm definitely going to give it a go. Even if you don't buy the film - buy the soundtrack on CD. It's awesome!
