the reason why bilbo and frodo were more ring resistant was that they own the ring for a much shorter length of time bilbo had it about 50 years and frodo much less but gollum had it for hundreds if not thousands of years it doesn't tell you this in the film but in the books it tells the story of how he slowly got corrupted by the ring and also he was not as good at heart as the hobbits as seen by his petty jelousy by stealing the ring from his cousin/friend
