This got asked in another thread and RDA had a little to say on the subject in a recent interview:

lunvjck: Hey Rick! You missed a great time at Gatecon this year! Have your buddies talked you into joining us next year?

R_D_Anderson: My situation this year dictated my action. I was away from my baby girl for 2 weeks and at this point in her life and mine it was imperative that I be with her. As far as next year, it sounded like fun.
R_D_Anderson: And I will do my best to attend.

So there is a chance i guess.

This will generate a lot of interest in Gatecon 2001! Ready for the increased work load, Gatecon?
Hope RDA decides to go! That would be great! He likes out takes or bloopers, also!

Talking RDA and GateCon comments on chat

I have no doubt that the GateCon team is as jacked up [no pun intended, honest!] about this as the rest of us fans.

{By the below sig line, you can tell where my heart is for next year... :} }

We were all so excited to hear the news from the chat from RDA. I was trying frantically to get in on it , but the chat applet wouldn't load for me.

I had Sue ICQ'ing me every couple of minutes practically yelling "HE MENTIONED US AGAIN !!!!".

We knew that he at least knew something about us, because apparently the guests who did show up couldn't shut up about it on the set.

I would absolutely love for Richard to show up at Gatecon 2001, and I can imagine now the mahem when he walks onto stage. There would be so much noise from cheers and clapping that the roof would collapse. That reminds me, I have to check our public liability policy. LOL.

But it is fantastic that something like Gatecon, that was started by four mere fans, is gaining recognition in the right places.

Talking RDA at GateCon

I had the luck to be on line for the chat [not that any of my questions got through. Oh Well..] and so to 'hear' Rick [he said he preffered Rick, than Richard and actually didn't liked being called 'Mr. Anderson'. 'The Man' said it...] say the following ...

R_D_Anderson: We just had our first convention its called gatecon.

R_D_Anderson: The response was so big that we hope it will be an annual occurence at which alot of fan influence was heard.

and ...

R_D_Anderson: My situation this year dictated my action. I was away from my baby girl for 2 weeks and at this point in her life and mine it was imperative that I be with her. As far as next year, it sounded like fun.

R_D_Anderson: And I will do my best to attend.

sent a real chill up my spine.

One can only hope that situations allow him to attend.

Now... we'll just have to remember to budget twice the amount of time for his panel. To allow enough time for the cheering to quiet down. :}

Hi all - my first post to this board.

Well it's just as well we've added an extra day to the con next year - maybe we should devote one whole day to RDA????

It would be great for us as organisers to have Rick there, but more important a great reward for all the fans who have been so supportive of the show.

Fear not we will be doing our best to hold him to his words during the coming months and as soon as we know something, you'll know something <G>

Rich,

Welcome to the site. Great to see the gatecon team over here. What it is all about, building a community and we both achieve the same thing in different ways i feel.

Would be good if RDA makes it, I am sure that chat session is going to hugely increase the amount of visitors you get and probably tickets. Do you have a cap on number of tickets you are selling?

Certainly is looking good for gatecon 2001

We (or rather "Venue Hunter" Rowan) are currently checking into potential venues for next year - we're looking to go bigger than this year, or at least find somewhere better suited to our needs, and our final choice of venue will determine ticket numbers.

Welcome, richpasco, to our friendly boards!

We really enjoyed hearing the news about a larger place for the next convention. From what I heard, it was crowded but everyone was friendly and kind. That is what got back to RDA I am sure, as well as the fact that it was well run. KUDOS to all of the hard working people there!

Thank you for posting, as we at Talkstargate like the idea of a convention that is kindly and popular! All of us with we could push our homes closer to Vancouver so we could all go! Especially Vera, who lives in the Chech Republic and really likes RDA! To say nothing of the numerous Aussie fans who wish it could be Vancouver in OZ!

Thanks again!
