Re: Robert Jordan? I've told a few friends to not start reading the Wheel of Time for it is a very big hole that you will not be able to escape. I was a bit peeved when I found out that his latest is a prologue rather than the next part. If he does the job well and it finishes with a bang rather than a whimper then he can finish in BOOK 20.. I do hope he opens up his world for other talented writers out there. I have certainly read a few fanfics that are worthy to be included in his world. Hey, they have done it with the Honor Harrington series then they should have an anthology for the Wheel of Time. ![]()

Re: Robert Jordan? The Wheel of Time is my fave series after A Song of Ice and Fire. I don't give a toss about the pacing and the characters don't piss me off, so I'm one of the few hundred thousand who aren't yet disillusioned. The final two books are gonna rock.

Re: Robert Jordan? the wheel of time is most definitely my favorite series. though i can't say with certainty what my second favorite is. Also, two books. Im nodding my head along with Sci-fi gEEk, im not sure 2 books is enough to finish the series off. I know i wouldnt mind more than two books. Make 'em great RJ!

Re: Robert Jordan? I read the first few pages of the first Wheel of Time, and it doesn't grip me in the least. All the more because what appears to be the "good guy" doesn't offer any reason to root for him - and the "bad guy" just seems like some form of caped supervillain from Victorian melodram. I found the scene descriptions very clumsy as well, and had real difficulty suspending disbelief. The first impression is that this is not going to be a book that challenges me on any level whatsoever as a reader. Not touched it for a while because of this.

Re: Robert Jordan? I strongly recomend that you continue to read. The prologue is strange, I admit that. It almost made me stop as well. However, a few thousand pages later you will discover why it is written the way it is written. And the "good guy" isn't the good guy either... RAFO ![]() Oh, and hi everyone.
