Unhappy

Now don't get me wrong I am grateful for the few crumbs thrown my way,BUT,when the promotion said signed posters I thought they would BE signed and not just printed sigs.I'm talking about the offer MGM had on the DVD sets in the UK.I suppose I should hold out for the trip/tour and hope it's not photos in a warehouse somewhere(do I sound bitter and twisted I don't mean to!)

Now don't get me wrong, but you at least get the DVD sets and the poster deal in the UK. Here in the good old UsofA, it's zip, nada, nothing.

Cheers,

Well i still havn't got my poster

Signed.. would take em ages to sign all the posters they needed to get signed I would think. A signed posted is going to be valued at probably £30/£40 istn't it? When they only make probably £5 profit per DVD that would be most of it gone. Hoping for a bit much i think although i agree the offer was slightly misleading.

What is the poster like?

I have to admit that MGMs release of the DVDs has been appaling. Ok, better than the US which is a disaster but the DVDs are really not great. Why?

1) Bizarre releasing. Get a best of series 1, 4 eps containing Politics!!!
2) Then they skip to series 2. The last disc of series 2 they think ..arr.. we have 2 eps to few. What shall we do? i know.. lets just chuck in a random 2 eps from series 1.
3) Re-arranged order of series 2 to make Tok'ra 1 and 2 onto separate DVDs - cliffhanger concept!!!
4) Poster deal a bit weird but not bad
5) NO extras at all
6) Boxes look ok but not great.

Compare it to Farscape boxes which have:

1) Cheaper
2) Two DVDs per box. 4 or 5 episodes yet still the same price at the stargate DVD (in 1 dvd). so ok same eps per price but you get them on 2 dvds and in a box
3) Boxes look amazing! simply brilliant. Join together to make a picture of moya and cast, completly pre-designed, nice layout and all ready. Individual DVD cases also nicely designed
4) Masses of extras.
5) A lot better sound quality.
6) Eps in order
7) All the eps there, not a "best" of series 1 containing the worst ep of series 1.

So, MGM sucks, Farscape rocks.

I rest my case!

It is simple in CR. There's absolutely nothing here. No posters, books, DVD's, soundtracks, patches... We can buy only ONE tape - COTG here and that's all.

That sucks.

It is bizarre how the UK which has to wait about 6 months to get films out (the Patriot is coming out this weekend as an example!!!) yet we get DVD/Videos for episode based programs so much longer before the US. (Although you are getting X-Files quicker than us).

Vera,
Your VCR and TV are PAL so you could order the tapes from the UK, couldn't you? It's the same format. Same would go for DVDs if you had a DVD player.

Okay I'll wind my neck in and not mank anymore it seems I've got it good here.grins.

Yeah ML I could. But I haven't a credit card and it's impossible to send the money cash, so...

Amazon.com for the US accepts checks through the mail. I'm not saying that Amazon.uk does, but they might.

Not sure if they do. If they did they would only accept money in £ which is going to be hard to get without expensive bank charges, otherwise i would say write me a cheque and i will send you one if that would help but i can't cash cheques unless they are in either £ or in US $.

Easy way around that would be to send Western Union Moneygrams (or whatever they call them). They do all the exchange rate stuff for you and you don't have to go to a bank to have it done. I don't know how their charges compare to banks, but a couple of people who have requested tapes from me have used that method rather than getting bank drafts and such.

Cheers,

Never heard of it but happy to help if people want. If you want videos, stargate ones are going quite cheap here now in some shops like £7 ($12) so i can look out for them if someone wants.
