do sky one not cut little bits out here and there?
I don't know if they have ever did it with stargate, but they used to cut some of the grusome scenes out of the x-files.

Well, yeah, but MUCH less than ch4.

They don't bother too much about violence (in SG at least, although I'm still confused bout that piccy on the vid case for Shades of Grey where they meet and fight the natives or something, which always seems to be edited), although language is edited, the few times they swear (ie Jack - "S O A B" in Maternal Instinct). Still it's not that much edited: the UK vids are probly edited as much...

I read up on what happened tho: to cut a long story short: the rogue SG team killed the natives.

Hey, nic, are you from the UK, or US, or somewhere in between?

Why would they need to edit the videos? By showing COTG as 18, and some others as 12 or 15, they are clearly matching the rating to the content and not bothering about the intended or target audience.

Whereas, if they show something on TV, or even satellite, the only thing they can use for censorship, apart from the digital scissors, is time of showing, which is recognised as quite crude.

Meanwhile, as an aside, I have seen certain evidence that the US is actually more prudish about bad language than the UK - taking an odd example such as Four Weddings & A Funeral - the UK version is a UK-15 rating, and has dozens of the f*** word. The US version allegedly either cut or dubbed these for other words.

I've got the UK vid, it's a PG: are you trying to say that there an 18 version out as well, or something?

btw, P'Teppic... do you... um... read Terry Pratchet by any chance?

Yeah, the DVD with COTG is an 18. This COTG has nudity and other scenes which were cut from the video.

Serious sense of Deja-vu in the previous couple of replies: since both questions and replies have appeared in some other thread.

a) yes to Pratchett
b) I had no idea the videos were PG. I only have the Region-2 DVD, which as kelsi highlights is 18.

Probably the main point is the extended nudity scene for, heck, no reason at all, except perhaps Apophis showing domination, when Sha're is Goa'ulded.

What may also be in more detail is any shots of the goa'uld larva itself. I would have to re-watch, but there are three scenes where it could be cut, the impregnation of Sha're, Teal'c explaining about the larva/Jaffa thing on the escape from prison, and finally the jump into Kawalsky. I know that the final one is missing from the C4 televised version, because I can assure you it makes very much more sense with the larva shown on DVD, even if it needs a 12 or 15 rating to do so...

In my vid, the first time you see Sha're as a Goa'uld is the first time Daniel sees her as a Goa'uld, you totally don't get to see her Goa'ulded... sigh... I feel so ripped off...

The bits you miss then, are the infamous nudity scene where Apophis rips her clothes off to assess her as a host, two Jaffa/servants dump her onto a table, a FEMALE JAFFA walks in and the pubescent goa'uld symbiote sort twists its way out of the pouch and sniffs Sha're before somehow indicating to Apophis that Sha're is acceptable. She is then turned onto her front, and the "snake" wriggles up her back, then attacks the base of her neck as she gets impregnated.

Question back: after the prison break, does Teal'c still explain that he is carrying the sybiote to Jack and SG-1, about half-way back ot the gate? In that scene on the 18 version we get to see junior - it pops its head out to show off. Later, we see a few seconds of symbiote as Kawalsky gets done just before leaving the planet, since it has to jump a coiuple of feet to get to him.

And what about Bane - do you see any of Junior in that?

Not entirely sure, I'll have to watch it again (any excuse!) but I think that Teal'c does explain, but you don't get to see the symbiote on the walk up the hill. At the end, on Channel 4 when I watched it (it was T4, and at 11:00 in the morning - aimed for a young audience), the Goa'uld bit was completely cut out, but on my vid, you do see the Goa'uld jumping. And also, I seem to remember, on Ch 4, the whole strangling fight bit (you know?! Right at the end?!) is majorly edited, but not at all (as far as I know) on the video.

Oh yeah, and apparently, the whole Jacks apartment with Daniel saying he doesn't know what to do and is in the way is also completely missing from the video. ... sigh...

Yep, loadsa Junior in Bane, though only seen squirming in the van, and in it's tank at the SGC. Doesn't show Teal'c actually pulling it out, just Teal'c's 101 facial expressions, which are just as good!
