I think this movie is brilliant, but I don't think it put that much thought into their first meeting. I think the filmmakers just had to have a reason for them to meet, so yeah, I vote that it's "just an excuse."
But that meeting didn't ring untrue to me in any way. That guy was showing off; he was showing off Rachel and the entire Nexus 6 line. He was proud that he was creating better replicants and of course he would be interested to see what would happen when a professional blade runner tested her. |
