Sean3w O anny aquiy attus. Let us have our first glipse of Othala, the Asgard world. Big boost in the advancement of the SGC travel spots. I give it a 10 out of 10. ---------- Come visit http://www.sg2070.com

MythingLink This episode will always stand out for me as being one of the best of the series for several reasons. The first being RDA's performance. He was exceptional in this episode at showing the viewers what Jack was going through just with his body language and facial expressions. His performance shined. <G> After that it was the story line and the way the characters interacted with each other. It showed just how much everyone in the SGC would go through to help out one of their own. I believe they would have done the same thing, if it had happened to even a peripheral character like Makepeace. Daniel's throwing the technicians words back at them when he leaves Jack's little device on the table was priceless as well as his translation of the inscription. "A piece of our leg" or "The Place of our Legacy". Great insight into the translation process. I did wonder why Sam didn't pick up on the base 8 math though? Although it's not something we all are familiar with, I would have thought it might have crossed her mind. I remember doing it in school. It was a pain. <G> Jack being diplomat after the Asgard relieved him of his knowledge, was really well done. I'm thinking it's probably one of the reasons that Thor chose him for diplomatic duty in Fair Game, besides the fact that 'he just likes him'. All in all a fabulous episode and one worth watching over and over again. Cheers, ---------- MythingLink The Woolfden: http://www.woolfden.net

padders Definitely one of the best episodes I have seen and 10/10 foes seem fair. Although we had meet the asgard before this was seeing them in a slightly different light. A great ep - looking forward to watching it again. ---------- Chris Padfield, administrator for TalkStargate.com http://www.talkstargate.com/ - Talk Stargate till your heart's content!

I sooooooooo agree with all of you! I've seen up to ep. 4.04 and this is still one of my faves. It's cool for all sorts of reasons but one the biggest one for me was that it advances the storyline in a way that only 'Torment of Tantalus' from season 1 had done before - all that stuff about four great ruling races was brilliant. All in all a superb episode. 10/10

10/10? No way! 100/10!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely! This is the best programme ever! This is the best Stargate episode! It really extends the story of stargate and gives all the charachters a bit of depth esp Daniel and Jacks friendship bond.

Definitely a 10/10. One of the all time best. (Though, yeah, Sam should have figured out the base 8 right way - now if it had been something more esoteric like say base 13..)

Yeah - I mean she is supposed to be a PhD, and although she would not be expecting it, the "simple" equations should have been a clue. Interesting thought: it looks like the Asgard had no thumbs: a) how did they get so powerful with no opposable joints b) does this mean they use base-8 mathematics c) does this mean the Ancients look physically like the Asgard

This is my all-time favorite Stargate SG-1 episode! #1 - RDA's performance - like Mything said - his facial expressions and body language - excellent! not to mention having to randomly throw in non-english words, but pretend like they were english words - the dialogue - beautiful! (could you imagine the out-takes from some of those scenes?) and i just love the story - it's nicely done - and Daniel saying that he couldn't go with the team to the planet, b/c he couldn't leave Jack - just the best! not to mention 'Well, not no idea, just not much of one.' -- priceless! go Daniel!! ![]() oh - and just to be all drooly for a second - there is a great Jack butt-shot when he goes through the wormhole to Othala! :naughty:

Personally I think it is great to see non-Goa'uld/human races out there. Given how many stars there are, if only 0.1% had planets, and only 0.1% of the planets were habitable, and 0.1% of those actually had life, how many would be left with non-human life? Loads.

that's definitely a plus -- if the only 'others' they met were goa'uld, then either our section of the universe is a lot bigger than we'd thought and no one wants to come here - or we're just really lucky (or unlucky) in our intergalactic travel ---

Especially since the Goa'uld are "now" using human hosts in the main, and human Jaffa and slaves. As I put in some thread in Series6 forum, why can't we have a great big, powerful, and totally "alien" looking creature for a change. And although I know you humans think we Reetou are alien, there are lots of REALLY odd looking creatures out there apart from us.
