I think comparing the series with the movie is a bit of the apples and oranges conundum. The movie had approx two hours to develop the characters whereas the series has four television SEASONS to do this. So saying that KR's JO'N is less developed than RDA's is a bit unfair.
I actually did not see the series until mid 3rd season and that was because 1)the syndicated vers was not availible in my area and 2)did not have SHOWTIME. I was actually not expecting the show to be as good as the series because I had been burned by too may other Movies made TV series to have high expectations. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised.
On one hand though,I would have been interested to see how the original creators developed the theme developed by the movie.
I did hear that they were ticked off about the series too (Think I read it in Starlog)

I think the books by Bill McCay would be an indication of where the film might have gone (this is what i hear, i have still not read them)!

I just can't get passed this one book where Daniel betrays Shau're. I just can't handle that one.

Sean- I think that book is Relatiation (where Daniel betrays Sha're)

One bad thing about the movie is when the Horus guards open up their helmets, it's so slow and out of quality quite easily to tell is was made 6 years ago....

just shows you how far they've come in affordable special effects in just a few years...as well as effect on the show specifically.

the film has very good special effects and and the story was good, too. i think the film (which was the start of the eps) was one reason of many why stargate has so much fans. but i think some episodes are better that the film ...

Thumbs up Stargate

I love this film. I have watched it probably 20 times at home, i don't think i'll ever tire of it. I haven't much seen the series, since i am not a cable subscriber, but from what I have seen of them, they looked interesting.
I hope they do decide to do a second for this movie.
