Season 1 is difficult for me to pick one episode that stands out in my mind. However, since I'm an RDA fan I'd have to say that one of the eps that I really liked was Cold Lazarus. I thought it was a really interesting way for the Jack character to show how much he was hurting for the loss of his son and the break-up of his marriage. Jack himself, didn't have to show the emotion, but in his statement to Sarah about knowing what his doppleganger said I think it's something he would have liked to have been able to do.
Cheers,

Favourite Season 1 Ep *has* to go to There But For The Grace Of God - I absolutely loved this episode. It was great to be able to see the slight twist in this universe (I'm a sucker for Alternate Universes). Oh yeah...and it has my favourite Carter scene in it - especially the line "Oh yeah, I also wish to blow us all to hell."
Gotta love it ;-)

I also like there but for the grace of God. I like the episodes when they use the mirror as well.
I think the best episode was perhaps Within the Serpent's Grasp, that was a really great action packed episode. Also good was Children of the Gods but to be honest there were so many good ones it is hard to decide. I also need to go and watch all the episodes again so waiting for those DVDs to come out :-)

As much as I love the action in episodes like Serpent's Grasp, I really enjoy the eps that are character driven. Another one of my favorites is The Torment of Tantalus. Just the thought of living all alone on that world for 50 years sends shivers up and down my spine. I was so moved by Keenan Wynn's portrayal and when he breaks down at the beginning when he realizes he isn't hallucinating, I wanted to cry for him.
I'd like to see whatever became of those two now that they are back together again - Catherine and Ernest.

Cheers,

I think the best bit of that episode is the discussion with Daniel at the end when he says something like "trust me it istn't worth it if there is no one to tell/share it with". It just shows that knowledge for its own sake is not really that important. (and that is from someone doing a philosophy degree :-) )

That's why the title is so apropo to the whole episode. I've also got to give Jack credit for allowing Daniel to make up his own mind about leaving. Even though he tried to drag him away at first after Daniel fought his way out of Jack's grasp, Jack stood there and let him think about what he was doing.
Loved the 'hugs' bit at the end, too. After having the hugs thing at the beginning (loved Carter running away from this naked man wanting to hug her), it was nice to have the hugs to end the episode.

Cheers,

Torment of Tantalus (ToT) was an interesting episode and a pivotal one in the series development. With Ernest and Daniel's discovery of Heliopolis, where the Ancients, Asgard, Nox and Furlings met ages ago, it opens up another theme within the show - all that "meaning of life stuff". If you view several episodes in the more recent seasons (eg. Touchstone, etc), the whole "meaning of life stuff" line and theme crops up occasionally, just giving that extra link to the first season.

I just love any of the early episodes with Teal'c.. Christopher Judge really shines here with the portrayal of the character. One of my favourite lines in the series is as Hammond tries to disarm Teal'c of his staff weapon as he leaves the SGC: 'I have seen your world. I will need it.'

I like Emancipation. Carter is just so funny in it.

You know you just picked one of the episodes that isn't the favorite of TPTB.

TPTB - The Powers That Be. The producers, writers, etc. On this board, you'd be TPTB.
