I have been trying to market an online ebook.

it is a science fiction serial entitled Charyli.

Re: marketing online

I think you're covering area's that are the most populated. It's the same question I've asked myself.

I'll come back to you when I get a brainwave.

Got a brainwave = handing out tiny fliers at a busy train station (mad morning rush) People do it to promote money making scams, why can't we do it for books? At least we're not scamming any one.

Go to Writer Resources section, there's some really good advice there.

Re: marketing online

I use Google to advertise my novel “Battleship of Fools”. You can set up PPC to as low as 1 cent while the minimum on Yahoo is 10 cents.

In addition, Yahoo was recently sued for overcharging customers by incorrectly calculating clicks.

Re: marketing online

yeah, i was going to suggest the link that was already suggested!

other ways, trying phyiscal promotion? flyers and so on. helps if yu have or know people who role play or possibly work in a library, or somewhere they might be prepared to give them out for you. also you can join webrings, search otu directories and banner exchanges. but ebooks are harder, i think, than physical books to market because you don't have anything to show people. so good luck!

Re: marketing online

Be a little careful with your online promotion, especially with online communities.

Turning up purely to pimp your book, can backfire. It's a bit like a door-to-door salesman turning up in a small community.

There are a few newly published authors out there, with small presses and some self-published, who have a bad name for being self-obsessed, selfish, hacks with an agenda.

Much better to identify the opinion leaders and opinion formers in this interactive world (the guys reviewing books at sites and blogs) get them to review your book and start the buzz... buzz is very difficult to cultivate as the product or product provider... it has to be from a third party and it has to be genuine.
