Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

Lol Rahl, I tried to warn ya. But the way I look at it the book must hold some use to the end of the series. And since it is a series I plan to finish I was glad I actually finished the thing. But I doubt that I've ever read a more pointless book. That isn't to say I've never read another bad fantasy book, because I have. But at least in them there was some plot or some storyline that reached a conclusion of sorts.

Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

Yes I agree I keep reading and hoping something will happen to make it worthy of the previous books in this series. So far the only thing that has interested me is when Rand asked Logain to make a truce with the Senchan. I want to see how this will be done I do not believe they want peace with anyone unless they were to do so by conquering them.

I suppose I really should also take back my comment about it being trash, the writing is really quite good just the subject is a bit boring and thats kind of sad considering what a great epic story this is.

Red face Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

Crossroads of Twlight, for the first 300pgs nothing of substance happened,we got about a dozen pages about two people having a bath!!time for Jordan to tighten things up.

I don't think many think the book is "bad", but the suspense created is almost physiclly painful, the book, for some, gives too much information and not enough. I loved it, and it basically guarantees that you buy the next one

Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

I don't believe that the book nor the series is bad. But I am beginning to understand why a lot of authors do not become popular until they are dead. Had we been alive during the time of Tolkien writing his books, our reactions may have been similar. We have had the obvious advantage of being able to read all of the works on our schedule instead of having to wait on the author to finish them. I do not disagree that some of the books in this series have been a chore to read, but I am still willing to give plot a chance.

Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

I thought that Crossroads of Twilight was the worst fantasy book I've ever read. I seem to be in the minority here though, but my problem was that nothing happened. A perfect synopsis from the book a minute site:
"Rand BROODS and DREAMS about his THREE WOMEN.)

Minor Characters
There is a large use of the One Power over there. (repeat indefinitely)
Perrin
I was going to save my wife, but that will have to wait for the next book.
Egwene
I was going to attack Tar Valon, but I won't finish it until the next book.
Mat
I might flirt with Tuon in the next book.

THE END"

lol Byers...

I actually agree that very little happened. I don't think it's the worst I've ever listened to.... but I wish I could identify what is different in the world now, than before.

Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

I've read this book (and the rest) so I tend to agree that RJ just doesn't go through with the big events that he continues hyping. This can be very dangerous because he might have outdone himself by making Tarmon Gai'don seem like a battle we cannot comprehend. He needs to follow through with his stories, it just kills me when he tries to slow the pace and then rushes into finale situations near the last pages. That is his only fault, he doesn't know what consistent speed is. Besides that, Crossroads of Twilight is a fairly good book...maybe because Winter's Heart kept me on the edge.

Re: Crossroads of Twilight (WoT Book 10)

the series are good.......i have read thru them twice already.
waitin for the next 1 to come out this month...hope to lay my hands on it soon........
but i agree with brys..........10 was BAD!!!!!
considering the way things are hapening in jordans univers....i find it hard to imagine how he can finish it off in just 2 novels....
chaos has invaded this dimension quite completely.....i hope the thing dsnt fizz out in the end
cuz i dont see rand getting any more stronger.....perrin and mat are busy with their significant others...and the number of bad guys just keep increasing
even if Moirain is gonna make a comebak.....i dont see how worlds gonna be saved this time

surprise me jordan!!
