Who wrote Star Wars Who wrote Star Wars??? Was it a film first and a screenplay written especially for it....I assume the story came first because it began with Episode 4 so someone must've already written ep's 1, 2 and 3 if so who... ...most grateful for any light shed in this area........

Re: Who wrote Star Wars George lucas wrote it. He wrote a screenplay called starwars but it was so long they had to edit it down a lot and decided the best part was the middle section which became ep IV, V, VI and just filmed episode IV and if successful they would film the next 2 which they did but initally there was enough material for 9 films. I have never seen the original screenplay and don't know if ep I-III are acually loosely based on his original screenplay or not

Re: Who wrote Star Wars Some useless trivia: Luke was originally called Starkiller instead of Skywalker. The Ewoks were originally Wookies but George liked them so much he created the character of Chewie. In fact, the backstory (Episodes I, II and III) were never really written until much later.

Re: Who wrote Star Wars One reason he called the original Star Wars Movie "episode 4) was because lucas was a big fan of serial movies as a kid; things like Flash Gordon and the like. I think he wanted to give the feeling of a story already in progress. In the original release it didn't say Episode 4 in the opening scroll because the studio thought it would confuse people but Lucas added it later. My sources is the director's notes from the DVD, it's been a while but I think that's the gist

Re: Who wrote Star Wars Lucas had help with dialogue on Empire Strikes back, which is why that particular film shines as far as dialogue is concerned. The prequels are notoriously bad when it comes to believable character interaction.
