Hi and Welcome Cloud

Good luck with the book. It's an insteresting subject. I got given Eye of the Needle by Pauline Clarke which I found fascinating.

If you're here, you're not boring! This is also along the line of, if you're here, then you're also partly insane!(or mostly, in some cases)

Bujold, Viehl, Hamilton, Harris, Steven Gould . . . you are naming many of my favorite authors, some of whom are seldom mentioned on these boards. I am extremely glad you've joined us, Cloud!

If you say you've also read and enjoyed Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, James Alan Gardner, and Catharine Asaro, I will leap out of my chair and dance a jig.

Hi Cloud.
In summer, my city's really hot and dry too. Yeah, forums can be daunting places. I'm still trying to get my way around this place.

Take Care,

xx

Ah, Ms. Bujold-I certainly hope we get more of Miles-he has quite a lot of living to do. I think I've read "A Civil Campaign" about 10 times. Her other books don't interest me as much, although I've read them. And yes, I did find Winterfair!
Is jealous. Still, I've read (and enjoyed) most of her books many times, meaning I come out ahead in the long run (don't even attempt that logic. At any given time, Half of my Bujolds are lent out in an attempt to adict more innocents.

I like both SF and F, but wouldn't call myself a hardcore SF fan. I do read a lot of fantasy, and am glad to see a resurgence in interest in it recently, propelled, I think, by the LOTR movies.

Besides classic writers like Heinlein and Herbert, I like David Webber and Elizabeth Moon (both her fantasy and SF). I do like the Viehl books, as I saw recently mentioned here. I would also like to take the opportunity to recommend Steven Gould's "Jumper" and "Reflex" --both excellent!
Ah, Baen books & military SF (yeah, I know Moon's written "The speed of dark", and parts of "The deed of Paksearrion" are less than martial, but on average her characters are killing each other, and Weber's all the time, fantasy or SF) And have you read "Blind waves"? I found it the best of the Steven Goulds[

Grandchildren? 4 girls, 1 boy, and an unknown to be born next Spring. All wonderful. In fact, one of the girls is named Rahvin from the RJ books (never mind that Rahvin was a bad guy, and male--they just liked the name).
And I will apologise about curiosity as regards small ones; as one whose genes will only be handed down by collateral paths, I "adopt" childen and cats, but never, I promise, to the detriment of their true families

I do have several curly girls among my progeny, but at first I thought you were talking about the name. One of the little ones is Jayden Cloud--how cool is that?

I think I mentioned my cats, Miles and Ivan?
