Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Yeah well considering he's played parts where he's had metre length blades hidden under the skin of his knuckles(I'm sure that would be unpleasant if they actually had to do it) I'm sure a temporary sex change will be quite manageable.lol. Just the image like. I don't have a clue who Peter Allen is but I'm assuming he's not the most sought after individual. Anyway..........he's played van Helsing....he can do a witch. It's about all he could get anyway. If this series were made into a motion picture you'd have to have some epic names in there. Maybe Al Pacino as Enrico Balazar. Who could do the voice of Blaine best though?

| Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Clint Eastwood - I believe King implied in the Dark Tower series (and openly stated in real life) that Roland was modelled around Eastwood. Best choice by far. Hugh Jackman - Right now, I can only picture him as Wolverine. If they can get him looking creased and battered, he'd be my second choice. Johnny Depp - Two skinny, too "pretty" and too quirky. Kurt Russell - Gah. Russell Crowe - Gah What they need is a guy with a long face, lotsa lines/wrinkles and not much smiling going on. Don't forget the black hair and blue eyes, which I suppose are easily achievable with contacts and hair dye these days. Actually, he is supposed to be closer to that age. At the end of The Gunslinger and at the start of The Drawing of The Three, Roland ages 10 years. In all honesty, they should probably get unknowns for any film/television representation of The Dark Tower. Well known actors would bring with them a lot of baggage, whereas unknowns could be molded/shaped to a greater degree to fit the role rather than the reverse. Though it would probably be difficult to find a skilled unknown the right age to play Roland. Paris Hilton could play Oy. ...but then again, Oy was intelligent. | Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Does anyone think maybe Clive Owen could extend himself beyond the usual conservative roles he plays and maybe do a Roland, or is that to far of the track? He has the hair, the eyes, and the age is debatable anyway. ![]() I dont see either Depp or Kurt Russell in the roles and I must admit I dont like Eastwood and never have, so maybe thats just a bias. |

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Nah can't see Clive Owen in a cowboy suit. Just wouldn't work. Maybe if you messed Patrick Swayze around and gave em a couple of dark highlights.lol. Or maybe if you just wait to make the movie for 20 years and let Keanu Reeves do it. He's got the whole serious attitude going on because of the Matrix movies.

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Hmm... Roland - Why not Christian Bale? (May still be too young?) I'm thinking both of American Psycho and Equilibrium, not the last Batman. And also that movie where he starved himself almost to death, The Machinist. If nothing else, he'd throw himself into the part. ![]() Eddie - I'd like to see Edward Norton for this, mostly based on Fight Club, the 25 Hour, though he was also damn creepy for most of American History X. Susannah - I'm at a loss, honestly. I'd like to think Lisa Bonet, thought she was great in Angel Heart, but she's probably too old now. Do NOT want Cat Woman, yuck. She'd probably go cuckoo halfway through the filming anyway.

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Old Guy, Yes I like the thought of Christian Bale (I like his voice too) and your right he would throw himself into any part.. Why not, it better than some suggestions including my own for Clive Owen (it was just me wanting to see him on the screen again)

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? I'd love for Christian Bale to be Roland, as he would actually be able to play the character properly. However, they'd have to mess around with his looks. Maybe get the guy who did Tom Cruise's makeup in Collateral. ![]() I could see this guy in the role of Eddie. ![]()

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? You could have Thandie Newton do Susannah maybe. That'd be a hard role to play- with the wheel chair and all. Edward Norton is actually a fairly good idea. He looks like a drug addict anyway.

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? Ok moving on from my idea of Clive Owen, how about Nathan Fillon, ok he is a lesser known actor in the movie star sence but he was good in firefly and serentity, maybe he could do Roland!!!

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? I could see Hugh as Roland, but then i'm a fan of his, so i'm a bit bias, he could arguably be too young though. Johnny Depp is one of my acting idols, and I admire him greatly, but I don't think i'd like to see him as Roland. He has the talent definetly, but I think his image doesn't suit Roland, and i'd be seeing characters like Jack Sparrow in his face all the time ![]()

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? I agree that Nathan Fillion is an amazing actor(Firefly and Serenity!). Not sure if I could see him as Roland though, maybe if he grew some stubble and had all the gear on. Interesting thought though!

Re: Hugh Jackman as Roland? He's already got the quickdraw down. In the Serenity film I had the first glimpse of what a gunslinger on Roland's level of quickdrawing would be like. He never drew down like that on the Firefly series. I think that was a development for the movie definately.
