I liked best Jon Shannow, Tenaka Khan and the Waylander, I guess I'm not being original here
Also, I think that the Legend was Gemmel's best novel, although as characters go I preferred Regnak and Virae to Druss about whom I didn't greatly care. As for his worst characters, I don't remember the names, but I didn't finish reading The Winter Warriors. It's a pretty average Drenai novel, with pretty much the same set of characters as always, but I tried to read it twice and I couldn't, the second time with only about a hundred pages remaining. Guess that was one Nadir/Drenai book too much, although maybe I'll give it another try...in time
